Best Tigers by jersey number (since we are doing best of lists)
What Tiger do you think about when you see a Memphis or Memphis St. jersey number. Obviously we remember the retired numbers. Elliott Perry will always be number 34. Keith Lee obviously is number 24.

But when I see the number 42, I think of DeWayne Bailey and David Vaughn. When I see 23, I think Earnest Smith, and Mike Wilson and not Anthony Rice or Derrick Rose But was Derrick the best to wear that number? When I see the number 1, I think of Joe Jackson although Detric Lawson put up better numbers. So who was the best to wear number 1?

Is the best player to wear number 10 Andre Turner or Rodney Carney?
The best number 2 Dejuan Wagner, or Robert Dozier or Shaq Goodwin?
The 45, Cedric Henderon or Kelley Wise?
35, Billy Smith, Darius Washington, James Bradley or Sylvester Gray? (Just realized that 35 is Larry Kenon's number) so this question answers itself.
3 - Chris Crawford, Joey Dorsey, or Jeremiah Martin?
5 - Will Barton, Jeremy Hunt or Antonio Anderson?
55 - Lorenzen or Anthony Douglass
31 - DeWight Boyd or Omar Sneed
20 - Tony Madlock, Doneal Mack, Rodney Newsome or John Wilfong
32 - Sean Banks, Marcus Moody or Doom Haynes or should be say James Wiseman?

What do you think?

I more old school.
When I see 42, I see Marion Hilliard
23 Tree Washington
10 Bill Laurie

1 - Antonio Burks
14 - CDR
42 - David Vaughn
50 - Bedford

Just a few that I haven't seen mentioned

21 and 24 disagree. There might have been fewer players, but quality over quantity.

I like that 450. 10 and 35 are the only numbers where the total numbers of point by all the players wearing that number would score more than 24.

Didn't CDR wear #3 for a couple of years before switching to 14?

Freshman year he was 3 because Simplice Njoya had the #14 jersey.

Not so fast.

#10
Bill Laurie (National Championship Game)
Alvin Wright (maybe my favorite point guard ever)
Otis Jackson (Sweet 16 and Bolton High School under Joe Branch)
Andre (speaks for himself)

I don't even remember Rodney Carney or Tarik Black wearing it, but okay.

I once told Bill Laurie they should retire #10, hesitated for a moment and said "Not for just you. For Little A, OJ, and the Little General. A point guard recognition." He laughed and said I was right.

But I do love me some James Bradley and Sylvester Gray!

"Billy the Kid"
"Little A"

Ronnie "The Big Cat" Robinson was the best of all time.

"The Little General"
"Beautiful" Bobby Parks
Phillip "Doom" Haynes (although I think he brought that with him from Northside?)
Which reminds me of Darryl "Smoke" Holliman from Southside.

Much better than "Little Joe Jackson" from Wolo. I wonder how much of "The Big Ticket" James Wiseman we'll hear next year.
