RE: Official Game Thread: @ VMI
For a period of 7 games Tray was hitting a dry spell from 3. He was 5-7 in the first UNCG game and 4-8 last night against VMI. But in the 7 games in between he was 7-32 for .219, averaging 1 made 3 per game.

It tends to be either feast or famine:
- In 29 regular season games, there have been 15 in which Tray’s been .250 (1-4, 2-8) or less, averaging 0.6 makes (9-76 or .118 for those 15 games!!).
- And there have been 11 of those 29 games where he’s been .429 (3-7) or better, averaging 4.4 makes (48-84 or .571 for those 11 games).
- Only 3 games fall within those extremes (two games of 2-7 or .286, and one of 4-12 or .333). He’s highly likely to either hit it really big from 3, or barely hit it at all. That’s why a short memory about the last shot and total confidence about the next one are important. And why it pays for a coach to encourage a great shooter.

Tray can do other things to be a valuable part of the game. In that 7 game stretch where he was 7-32 from 3, he had 4 games where he still scored 10 to 13 points, averaging .444 from 2; a couple of games where he got 2 or 3 steals; one where he had 3 rebounds and 3 assists, and another where he had 4 rebounds and 11 assists.
