I've seen comments blaming HPD Chief for this tragic event too. Pretty sure he didn't endorse a plan to lie about evidence, plant drugs, lie about homeowners pulling a gun on police and causing a shootout...
After initially supporting his officers, who were shot in the raid, HPD Chief came out later and said his officers lied. He just eliminated "no-knock" raids.
This story was very disheartening as a Houston resident. HPD officers lied to get a warrant, and two people were killed over it, not to mention 5 officers shot. HPD Chief needs to make some serious changes or he needs to get out.
Story is disturbing. HPD officer says he sent a Confidential Informant to buy drugs from this house. Apparently that was a lie. Lied about the drugs that were supposedly bought at the house. Officers go for a "no-knock" raid, and as soon as they burst open the door the residents' dog attacks (as you would expect). HPD officer shoots dog, other HPD outside hears the gunfire and everybody starts unloading their weapons. HPD later claims that one resident pulled a 9mm handgun on them...but it was never recovered. Seems unlikely that the resident was able to shoot all five police officers without the gun. Maybe he swallowed the evidence?
There's been no word about whether gunpowder residue was found on his hands. Also no word about whether the officers were shot by friendly fire. Tragic what happened; the officer who lied about the initial evidence should be charged with murder of the residents and attempted capital murder of police officers.
Originally they said there was a 3rd suspect but I guess they changed their story later.
I find it hard to believe though that if the story unfolded the way you're suggesting, that anyone would be covering up for this officer. I did see a story yesterday saying they were investigating some officer who has been accused now of lying on a ton of different occasions.
In terms of the crime lab, I have a neighbor who works for the city coroner's office. I asked her once about some of the problems they had been having, and she gave me a dirty look on the question so I quickly dropped the subject.
Don't let the fuzz intimidate you.

RE: No knock
About as much connection to Trump here as there is collusion with Russia. All it amounts to is Dem anger that their candidate lost. Plain and simple.
