Looks Like Josh Can Coach-But Now Recruiting Is An Issue
Sort of the opposite of his perception at Memphis

https://www.ajc.com/blog/mark-bradley/pa...1iOTCDnUI/

To be fair, Tech is a tough place to recruit. No other school makes you take calculus.
In the long run, I think he will be okay here. Losing Okogie here for this year certainly hurt.

No having anything to do with the above, but wonder how UCF game this past weekend would have gone if Martin does not get that technical foul. We were up two at the time, they got four points out of it. Just seemed to turn the game around. Anyone know why it was called? Was he talking to their bench?

Go Tigers!

He's in the equivalent of 'witness protection' in Atlanta but the media is starting to pay a little attention:

I don't know how long Pastner would have stayed at GT in the first place, but Georgia hiring Crean made his tenure in Atlanta terminal.

CJP's win trendline doesn't look good. Of course, he's 41 and has probably got a net worth north of $8 million and his wealth trendline looks unreal.

I highly doubt that he'll last another 2 years there.

Heck no he can't coach. They are just trying to find a bright spot anywhere they can and it dang sure isn't recruiting. This is his 3rd year and nothing has improved and in fact is getting worse. But, just like here, people want to hang on to hope, even when it is ridiculous to do so.

And the defense thing.... no, we never had a good defense. It was our offense was so freaking bad it would rub off on the other teams. We would be shooting so poorly that the other team couldn't make a shot either.

They are 11-15 (3-10 in the ACC). Last year they finished 13-19 (6-12 in the ACC).

He can coach. Just not very well.

He owes Joe Jackson at least 4 million dollars.

Josh started off as an offense-first kind of coach. I never thought he ever had a really good defensive squad. They played for cheap turnovers and gave up too many easy looks.

Joe Jackson was a fine player, but I’ve heard this regurgitated several times. I’m not a Pastner apologist, but he did land several good recruits during his time here. Will Barton certainly helped JP win, as did others.

Josh Pastner is the most successful sociopath to ever coach basketball. He is a man with zero empathy or charisma who learned that he was not a complete human being early. He was intelligent enough to observe acceptable behavior and trained himself to mimic certain patterns which he believed would be acceptable and make him successful. His accomplishments are truly exceptional given his disability. I admire his earnest effort, but really can find nothing else about him that I like.

Of course. He owes Will and Antonio Barton a million, CC and Tarik a million, and then other assorted players a million.

Eh...

No JJ = No tourney the second year = No big raise and tougher time recruiting new players.

Slide may have occurred more quickly and also stopped him from getting the GTech gig.

Ironically, Tubby's success at Georgia helped to accelerate the end of Bobby Cremins at Tech.

Since many commenters on this thread, including me, are pretty tough on CJP (not that he doesn't deserve it), I am curious as to why GP still bashes Tubby daily, but never bashes Pastner.
