We jumped attendance 300%+, overnight with a single hire, almost to full capacity at the FedEx Forum, and lead the conference in average attendance by a mile at 15k+.

Try and one up Memphis in Hoops.

ok UCONN too, they have lots of "official" Final Fours and NCs too, lol. They probably live for Hoops up there, too.

WSU needs to demonstrate yourself. FWIW, I don't expect Memphis will make it out of Wichita alive.

Sounds more like a bandwagon than passionate with the way you state it there ... 07-coffee3

Memphis is trying to relive the times they didn’t have to cheat to win.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around how bad of a program you have to be to only make 1 NCAA in 24 years. Help me out.

RE: Which AAC school is the most passionate about basketball?
It is difficult to measure "passion" in the topic's sense ("ardent" is a synonym), but here are my factors to consider:

1. Game attendance and capacity utilization,
2. Media attention (e.g., newspapers, talk shows, etc),
3. TV ratings within the community,
4. Social media activity,
5. Sales of university related gear (e.g., hats)
6. Number of traveling fans

I think Memphis and WSU lead the way, but it is only a rough guess.

IMO, the most passionate fans in all college basketball are at Dayton. They are resolute and steadfast. KY fans are nuts, but it is easier to root for schools consistently winning at a high level.

not true...we have a tremendous traveling fan base....check out UC fan attendance in bowl games in the last 10 years. Also, 3x more people go to UC football games. You apparently weren't around here when that clown Tuberville was our coach.

Back during the CUSA days, Cincy (good traveling fan base) always brought a large contingent of fans to Memphis when the Tigers hosted the tourney, the other schools not so much. Look for the same this year from the Cincy fans.

True, but I was defending our football fans' passion for UC and citing the bowl travel record, which has been excellent.

I think Cincy fans will signifacntly outnumber fans from other out-of-town schools at the AAC tourney. I do not see the normal WSU fan turnout due to a long drive and the real possibility their team will lose early.

Gotcha on the football part, fun in Memphis (finally) also with good representation at our bowl games (been to all but one). In the past we've been good in BB and sucked in FB, or lately been good in FB and sucked in BB, but things are about to change in Memphis. As a passionate Tiger fan, it's great to finally look forward to both FB and men's BB. GO TIGERS!

I think this is pretty much it. Cincinnati certainly deserves an honorable mention.

Memphis just proves that you can be passonate without being smart. All you gotta do is have someone else take your SAT.

You really need to learn how to spell check before talking about other's intelligence. I think that's the second time you've done that today.

Yeah, that is really not something I am concerned about. It keeps me humble.

RE: Which AAC school is the most passionate about basketball?
There's not a "huge gap" between Temple and Cincinnati. If our program had as much success as UC's, our building would be just as packed, and that's competing with 4 pro sports teams and 5 other DI schools. The thread asks about "passion", not current atmospheres.

Passion is a hard thing to quantify, though. On one hand, Temple's fan base is absolutely more fickle than any other in the top half of AAC schools, but on the other, when LC is full, it's tough to beat at this level.

We'll see what happens with McKie. A lot of people have said they're getting season tickets next year after having dropped them in the last 5. The bad teams and football success recently really siphoned a lot of the energy that was around when I first started at Temple in 2012. That last year in the A10 was a load of fun, and I didn't really get to appreciate it because I didn't know how far we were about to fall. No one did. I'd give anything to have the place rocking like it did back then.

Good post.

I would be willing to argue Tulsa fans are more fickle though. Mostly because a large portion of it is strictly name/place fans. The vast majority of which are not alumni or connected directly to the school. We're Tulsa, they're Tulsa that we have 'University of' in front of our Tulsa is kind of irrelevant, if we're rocking they claim us. If not the school survives on that small directly connected group.
