RE: Mar 9
Don’t show up for the UAB basketball game and attend the Iron game at the same time instead, that means you are not a real UAB fan. Doesn’t apply to UAB tennis games, softball or baseball games, just UAB basketball.
This isn’t me telling you how to spend your money, just the vibes I’m getting from others.
Don’t tell nobody that these pod games are meaningless for every body but ODU and WKU, they’re the only ones with respectable nonconference wins and the cusa tournament seeds are already locked in. This system only works if teams like them come out successful, as the conference hopes to get its one bid in the ncaa tournament to improve to 11-13 instead on a 14-15 seed. That only happens if WKU or ODU win out. Otherwise, this pod system will have zero effect on anybody else that could win the cusa tournament from a computer standpoint.
I remember when football was shutdown, folks were saying they wouldn’t put another dime into anything at the university til it was reinstated. Same applies to basketball as far as where ppl see the direction it’s heading in or if there’s a coaching change or a concrete plan for facilities. Folks aren’t happy and they are showing it with the nonexistence of their presence and their check books.
I’m sorry, I left out UAB Women’s basketball who had a home game at the same time the Iron and UAB men’s basketball were playing. So, are you not a real UAB fan because you sat at home and watched the men play instead of going to watch the women, just like you skipped out on the diamond sports? This basketball only type fan is the reason the program is in the shape it is. You don’t want change and want to attack everybody who does and will withhold their income til they see a change.
Now please get over yourself with this I’m a better fan than you are, bullcrap.
So, we’re in the top pod with a team that has 7-8 new players. That’s great. Finished 5th in cusa standings, this league. We finished tied for 5th in Davis’ last year. Only finished above that twice since then. this is what, a 7-8 year span of time? I personally felt we could’ve had a record similar to ODU or NT with this squad.
Youth is no longer an excuse in basketball, neither are injuries. You got 13 scholarships, on you to have a decent bench. We had Lovan and Butler for the USM and La Tech games, lost to them, same with Troy. That’s why I’m not giving a pass vs MTSU and Charlotte. Just makes the games vs WKU and Marshall look like a fluke. I hate it for the players, but until there’s some consistency whether it be with the most experienced team in the league like E had in yr 1 or 2, or now with the least experienced team but probably overall more talented of your 3 teams.
Ehsan’s got to put together a run to win fans back. Some of the fans that were lost long before he or Haase got here. We’d like to see them use this pod experiment to get things going real well and make a run in March that none can foresee at the moment. If he doesnt finish well, he’s got to put together a great recruiting class. Cant go another year of only 6-8 guys that truly belong playing D1 ball. Yes, make room if you have to again. Only two spots left to fill now, but I can see a need for as many as 5.
