RE: No Express game thread? How was the game experience?
I mean, their roster shows 4 offensive coaches total. Defense has 4 position coaches, a DC, and (of course) Singletary.
Ridiculously pathetic.

I don't think the Memphis franchise itself hired Singletary. I believe it was more the league hired Singletary and placed him in Memphis.

In a league trying to make a splash, why hire Singletary?
In a market where personality and flash count for a lot, why send Singletary here?
Why hire a defensive coach, and not give them an OC?
Why would Singletary continue running Hack out there, when Mett looks more promising?
5 whys
They hired Hal Mumme founder of the air raid offense to be the OC in mid december but he quit in early January. He was replaced by david lee whos last 3 coaching jobs have been QB coach at Cleveland in 2017, Buffalo in 2015, and the Jets in 2013 which explains a lot.
David Lee is the QB coach, but not listed as OC. There is no OC. I was behind Hal Mumme. But now we got nothing but a QB coach who had some of the worst stops in the NFL, and Singletary. It's ridiculous. And pathetic. Pathetically ridiculous.
On their first broadcast Lee was called the OC

As I understand it, there is no franchise. Everything is centrally run by the league. I believe the only local-type decisions are roster decisions by the coaching staff.

And as we saw this week they have screwed that up royally.

Looks like the signal caller is Bobby Blizzard.
Quote:One game into the Memphis Express’ existence, coach Mike Singletary knew a change had to be made.
“The biggest thing you want to do is find the right people and put them in the right places,” he said just minutes after the Birmingham Iron shellacked and shut out his Express.
Despite a less-than-stellar AAF debut, he wasn’t ready to pull the plug on Christian Hackenberg as the starting quarterback – although that call finally was made at halftime of last week’s loss to the Orlando Apollos. Instead, Singletary quietly relieved offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach David Lee of his game day play-calling duties and turned them over to receivers coach Bobby Blizzard.

Put Johnny Football in Memphis and I bet we show up. I know I would for at least a game.

I tuned in for a minute in the 3rd qtr and it looked like there was hardly anyone there. At least the team is playing better now so maybe they'll generate a little interest.

Nice win but still rely8ing too much on getting turnovers to be competitive. QB change should have happened earlier.

The attendance actually increased this week. I’m glad the Express finally got their first win today.

I recommend everyone trying to go to at least one game this season, the games go by quicker than tiger games and the crowd really gets into it despite the low attendance numbers.

Good to hear that attendance increased. The win should help with that, too. Gonna try to make the next one.

RE: No Express game thread? How was the game experience?
Calkins said what I've been thinking. Watching Hack and Mett play, it makes zero sense that it took this long to get Mett in the games. Only logical explanation is commitments were made to get Hack to Memphis.
If this league is trying to leverage gaming as a real revenue stream, then they cannot be fixing rosters. Not a good sign.
