Glad he recognizes and acknowledges the geographic difficulties Memphis faces. I think it was Karl Dean who also mentioned that in the 2018 gubernatorial race. Hopefully Rolfe's claim and promise come to fruition, with well-paying jobs. We will see...

"For a few minutes on Wednesday, Tennessee's chief economic development official teased hundreds of Memphis businesspeople with the suggestion that the FedEx Logistics headquarters move is a harbinger of things to come.

"The narrative has changed. ... There are a couple of really cool things going on. ... We will be back and we look forward to making additional announcements,"...

Rolfe also addressed the competitive landscape surrounding Memphis, acknowledging a need for a comprehensive strategy to keep Mid-South companies in Tennessee.

"I think that Memphis probably has the toughest position in our state, and I say that to you because it's about net new jobs for Tennesseans. You're right across from a couple of competing states, one being Mississippi. One of the things that we have not developed is a retention strategy," Rolfe said. "You guys have it tough here." "
