Allowing fewer points
The eye test says we are playing better defense. Although our last four opponents are scoring less, the defensive numbers don't indicate a great shift in stopping the other teams from scoring efficiently. It seems that we are simply slowing down the pace of games.

Not complaining here. It may be that this team is simply better in a more deliberate, lower scoring contest.

We started the season 3-2 in CAA play and gave up 75.2 ppg

We then went 1-5 and gave up 88.8 ppg

Last four games we are 1-3 and gave up 74.7 ppg. However, those games were against three of the top four teams in the conference. We beat #1 Hofstra by 8, lost to #2 NU by 4, lost to #4 Delaware by 4 and lost to Drexel by 12.

We have 3 games left against last place Elon, #5 William and Mary and #3 CofC. We will see if this slower paced game works to our advantage and turns into wins.

It's also worth looking out our offense since we've slowed the pace.

We are #68 in the NCAA in overall offensive efficiency at 1.058. Over the past 3 games our offensive efficiency is at 1.108, which would place us at #23 in the country over the season.

It appears the slower paced games haven't resulted in a great improvement in defensive numbers. But, fewer overall posessions and our increased offensive efficiency has allowed us to make the games closer and give us a chance to win.

Opponents effective FG% has been 56.4% for the year and 55.7% over the past 3 games. Both or really bad numbers.

I really believe forcing opponents into a slower paced game works in our favor.
