Don’t make me start a new thread for ‘name the groups’...

Great Group
Gripe Group
Grump Group

Or maybe that should be the groups for CUSA fans :ooh:

That's actually what they're using right now in this year's pod play, at least in Pod 1, and what a USM poster or two have complained about. Haven't looked at Pods 2 or 3 yet.

b/c it's just dayum stupid....

if the goal is to create a multiple bid league, the 3 should host the 1/2 and the 2 should host the 1....

again, it doesn't matter.....we're a 1 bid league every year...

hell, this conference can't get a tv contract worth scrap metal value....

So you're complaining about having to play the 1 & 2 on the road as the #3 seed but want the #1 seed to have to travel to the 2 & 3?

Granted they could be better wins on the road if any of these teams had decent NET rankings but not worth giving up the home court advantage against the better teams, losing the regular season title and NIT bid and the number 1 seed in the tourney. Next year finish as the top seed and the whole thing will seem a lot fairer to you.

edit: The goal isn't to create a two bid league in the last four games. It's to not ruin the chances if a team or couple manage to get to that point with a chance. And to possible help seeding in the NCAA.

yes I am, and yes it is by design....

I don't care if you disagree....that's your option...

edit: I'll also argue the 12 seed is the sweet spot....the 8/9 is a nightmare....

The problem I have with the pairings is that # 5 UAB gets to play #1 ODU and #2 WKU at home

So you get rewarded by being #5.

If you already played a team away during the season they should play you at your place. Hence UAB should have played ODU away and ODU should have played WKU at home.

So in the great wisdom of our conference ODU plays UAB twice at UAB and WKU plays ODU twice at ODU.

And who came up with this Sunday and Wednesday crap. The whole season we have been on a Thursday/ Saturday schedule.

Group Saturday, February 23 (CT)
1 WKU at Old Dominion 12 p.m.
1 UAB at Southern Miss 2 p.m.
2 FIU at Florida Atlantic 3 p.m.
2 North Texas at Louisiana Tech 7 p.m.
3 Charlotte at Middle Tennessee 5 p.m.
3 Rice at UTEP 8 p.m.

Thursday, February 28
1 Old Dominion at UTSA TBD
1 WKU at UAB TBD
2 Florida Atlantic at North Texas TBD
2 Marshall at Louisiana Tech TBD

Sunday, March 3
1 Southern Miss at WKU TBD
1 UAB at UTSA TBD
2 Marshall at North Texas TBD
2 Louisiana Tech at FIU TBD
3 UTEP at Charlotte TBD
3 Middle Tennessee at Rice TBD

Wednesday, March 6
1 Southern Miss at Old Dominion TBD
1 UTSA at WKU TBD
2 Louisiana Tech at Florida Atlantic TBD
2 FIU at Marshall TBD
3 Rice at Charlotte TBD
3 Middle Tennessee at UTEP TBD

Saturday, March 9

1 Old Dominion at UAB TBD
1 UTSA at Southern Miss TBD
2 Florida Atlantic at Marshall TBD
2 North Texas at FIU TBD
3 Charlotte at Rice TBD
3 UTEP at Middle Tennessee TBD

Play your tougher games at home, go on the road against the weaker opponents.

For a different post. As someone in another thread explained to me, it may be to help get better seeding for one bid in the ncaa tournament than getting a 2nd bid.

Yeah, I'm going to disagree that taking the biggest advantages from the #1 seed and giving them to the #3 is the best way to go. But since USM is the #3 seed I guess I can see why you feel this way.

RE: Bonus play announcement
so basically everyone just gained 13 to 43 points in the top group (at least per WN). Just imagine if we could have had a top75 team in there.
