I also was astounded to see #13 come back onto the court very shortly after having spent five minutes on court unable to move and with the trainers. Maybe she just got the wind knocked out of her. I was also more than amused at what Coach Barefoot screamed at the officials when #13 went down. Her players were pushing and shoving all game with very few fouls called against them, so for her to be yelling at the refs to call more fouls was amusing. The mouth on #10 should have gotten her more than one technical but the refs chose to ignore her.

At the Crown Club reception, among other things, Coach O pointed out Logan's steal close to the end of the game as the turning point. He also mentioned that even though not many of the bench players were able to play, their positive comments to their players and their energy fed onto the players on the floor and were very motivating.

The last road swing is this weekend - Elon Friday night and W&M on Sunday. Hope a lot of folks can get to one or both of those games.

Barefoot's reaction was a pile of BS. From where I sit I can see the replay that the officials went over to look at, in response to Barefoot's allegation. Essentially our players were no where near the gal. The officials looked at each other and concluded it was a load of nothing.

Several of Barefoot's girls are "floppers", including that one. Some of the fouls called on ours were ridiculous. Also there was more pushing and shoving from them than any other team except maybe Towson. ugh..

Barefoot did a good job destroying ODU's once-proud program, so there's that.

I didn't see the first UNCW game, so can someone who did tell me how that game went down? They seemed very interested in playing mega-physical. Towson had the same approach & it nearly worked for them. I figured UNCW saw that game tape & decided to replicate the physicality. Wild effort on defense, borderline out of control at times.

The ODU WBB program had declined a good deal under Wendy Larry due to the AD pulling funds from it, although Wendy was blamed for the decline and was fired. I was at Tennessee at the time and following that program very closely. The Lady Vols played ODU every year and we could see the decline; it was quite shocking to us but I think we were also aware of the reason. A friend of mine who is an ODU alum confirmed what was going on. Wendy was blamed for the decline and was fired. Then they hired Barefoot and she completely broke the program. It was in tatters when Nikki McCray took over. Hopefully she brings it back, if not to its former glory, at least to a really solid mid-major program that ODU can be proud of.

I would not allow my daughter to play for Karen Barefoot. There is only one other coach in all of WBB that I will say that about.

It was clearly Wood Selig's priorities that caused the initial ODU WBB decline. That guy's a moron. I understand you're rooting for McCray, but I wish nothing but the worst for ODU WBB.

What's your problem with ODU WBB? They're not in our conference and not likely to be any time soon.

I attended JMU between 2002-07. I was (and continue to be) a big JMU WBB fan. Wendy is an all-time great coach in NCAA history, but she didn’t show much class when it came to games vs. JMU. Her players reflected her arrogant attitude and that’s enough for me to dislike that program. I once watched her sprint to Coach Brooks at the buzzer with a big overdone “f*ck you” smile and an over enthusiastic handshake after a CAA tourney win. It was the equivalent of a middle finger to someone she should have shown respect toward. She never did that when her team lost by 30 to JMU in Harrisonburg. She hung her head like Eyeore and sulked through the line after a loss. She earned the right to be classless in victory if she wanted to, but it doesn’t mean I have to like or respect her or her program.

Also, her John Thompson towel over the shoulder was nasty.

Meh, well, she didn't act that way at Tennessee, I guess because she knew she was outclassed there LOL. I remember one year when her team had what looked like patent leather sneakers and a PG who looked like she was about 12 years old....little round-faced ankle-biter kid about 5'2. Tennessee made mincemeat out of her of course, but she was cute. Anyway, that was a long-term rivalry and very enjoyable, but for some reason it stopped, don't know why. I know Pat and Wendy were always on a friendly basis. I can't imagine Karen Barefoot being on a friendly basis with anyone who has a team better than hers, maybe that's why it ended.

Yeah, my understanding was that was a Pat & Wendy scheduling deal. I can only imagine Wendy was humble around Tennessee’s program!
