Beagle, all respect your opinions when it comes to baseball. Any surprises good or bad tonight? Didn't think pitching was bad considering the competition. Brant Blaylock in the lineup?

Uh, thanks? I don’t think I know that much more than the average fan but I’ll give a few takes (I don’t want to be USM’s Todd4State, ha).

Blaylock should probably be in the lineup as the DH going forward. He’s going to bring some RH power to the plate which we don’t really have. My guess is that he puts up a Keating-type season with 6-8 bombs and a bunch of Ks. Batting average around .270 or .280. Tough to predict his OBP because I don’t know a ton about what his plate discipline is like. I expect him to start in RF today with a lefty on the mound and Wallner still DHing.

I thought pitching was acceptable. Without a dominant starter (at least for now), we might piece more games together from the bullpen than we have in the past. You’re seeing more teams relying on their bullpen in college baseball with analytics saying teams start figuring out pitchers 3rd time thru the lineup. I thought the bunting/stealing was dumb, but the staff did a nice job handling pitching. They kept Strickland in there for the 10th instead of going to Keys because he’s our “closer.”
