RE: 2019 Baseball Season
Heading into the last week of the regular season, KSU sits at 27-21 overall and 14-8 in MAC.

The offense has come on and they have settled on the starting lineup. The pitching has struggled but they have a lot of pitchers out for the year or that have missed portions of this season.

Home vs Wright State on Tuesday and then @ Ypsilanti, MI for Thursday, Friday, & Saturday.

Link to the season statistics: https://kentstatesports.com/cumestats.as...&year=2019

LF Collin Matthews
CF Ben Carew
RF Cam Touchette
1B Alex Ronnebaum
2B Josh Hollander
SS Pavin Parks
3B Kian O'Brien
C Michael Turner
DH Justin Kirby or Pete Schuler

KSU currently sits as the #4 seed. CMU is having a heck of a season, 39-12 overall & 19-5 in MAC.

The way our season has gone, who expected anything different today?

Is it possible for a KSU fan to say, "Is it football season yet?" lol

Baseball loses to 6 seed, softball to 7 seed, men’s golf so-so for Kent, women’s team goes south in 1st round of NCAA Finals. Oh well.

It can never be bleak enough to wish for football season.

2 and out. Not sure Duncan is the right guy for this ship. I don't follow close enough to know about the injuries or previous losses to the draft, but regardless, I expect results out of this program.

I have thought the same thing several times. We certainly have given him the resources to be better and our past coaches have done better. Wait and see.

I sure wish we’d get back to recruiting Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Our recruiting classes are ranked very high. Yet they cannot win. I dont think he is doing enough to develop the players. I also dont think they are tough enough.

You aren’t the first person to mention mental toughness.

Not saying you don't need talent ... you can't win without it. Still, sometimes less is more when it is coached right.

If you are trying to trot out more talent than the next guy, then sitting back and watch. That is not going to cut it.

Baseball in particular, attention to detail offensively and defensively, can off-set a lot of talent, particularly when you have solid to superior pitching, which Kent most often does.

RE: 2019 Baseball Season
I think it is obvious that we have been blessed with the last 3 to 4 coaches. Our level of on field play has been exceptional plus the good talent level. This has put great pressure on the next coach (present coach) if he is just average. We probably can now know when a team is doing things right and when they are not. Could be that we have a good assistant coach too high up.

Don't care what the recruiting rankings may state #'s wise we're not getting the guys with grit (jimmy ryder types) and guts to get overcome adversity and way too many excuses from everyone on injuries and youth. Also don't discount the impact old asst coach Marconi had on finding those types of guys.

RE: 2019 Baseball Season
Yeah the Marconi thing is still really puzzling. Not sure what happened there. Dunno how you cut a KSU guy loose like that. I mean I could see it if you wanted to go after a high profile former head coach or something like that for that role, but it’s just odd.

Scott Daeley was instrumental in that role, too.

I know it may LOOK like an excuse, but when you lose two probable weekend starters and your pre-season all-american closer has a nightmare season and makes his last appearance of the year on April 17 and doesn’t even DRESS for the MAC Tournament, it can’t be ignored.

I think the Marconi loss has hurt the program. Birky and him really kept the continuity. They recruited "kent" guys

RE: 2019 Baseball Season
Well we bad two pitchers drafted last night, both in the eighth round. Wollersheim and Matthews. Yet somehow we went 0-2 at the MAC Tourney. Truly mind-boggling.
