Listening to a high school game right now. Minster's starting pitcher (against Cincinnati Christian) has thrown 7 walks in the first three innings but has not given up a run yet.

In trouble. Several missed opportunities today. Bellini has struggled all weekend.

It seems they used up all their energy during the Oregon State game.

Feels like every hard hit ball today was at someone.

It was fun while it lasted, hopefully this is just the start.

Big strides for the program this season. Loved seeing it.

Some one compared beating OSU to beating PSU. Both turned out the same. That said it is a milestone to build on and sell to recruits.

UC can argue we are the best non P5 based on FB, BB, Baseball and WBB in the last year and better than many P5's.

Hey, we made some noise. We got on TV and won a huge game. No complaints about that.

Somewhere there's a kid putting his glove with a ball in it under his mattress that saw these games and in a few years when he's the next hotshot prospect, will maybe give us a shot.

It usually doesn't end well for the team that doesn't hoist up the trophy in Omaha, but beating a defending national champion after a 45 year absence from the NCAA and getting an AAC Championship (top five RPI conference last time I checked) was exciting and inspired a lot of Bearcat interest and excitement--something we're not accustomed to in June.

Googins did a phenomenal job. To compete at this level will clearly require more talent and I believe he'll get there. While I've only been able to attend about a half dozen games each of the past two years, I have purchased the $50 season pass and encourage others to do the same. You can drop that much cash in one night at GABP. If 500 of us would do that it won't raise lots of money but it will put more fans in the stands. You can walk in, sit a few rows behind the plate and enjoy a refreshing adult beverage and a fine evening on campus. We have an excellent baseball conference, classy, modern stadium and a proven coach. It's time to become a nationally competitive baseball program.

With the exception of Bumpass, we lose no quality bats. We do lose some serious innings in Orndorf, Colvin, and Kullman, but we have our best pitcher (Nathan Kroger, 1.86 ERA and 27 K in 29 IP) who was hurt for much of the season coming back, along with the entire back-end staff and 8 of our Top 9 hitters by average. Add that to the couple of young arms who showed some serious flashes (Schoenle and Murray) who could step into the rotation, and Bremner coming back from injury potentially, along with Morgan Colopy (grading out as a potential Top 10 Round pick out of HS and runner up in Ohio POY voting) and Joe Powell (Johnny Bench Award winner as best Catcher in OH/IN/KY). You have to assume Stapp, Mercer, Johnson, Bellini, and Wiemer all come back with a bit more progression as well.

In other words, I think we could be even better next year...but that's not to say we'd go back to Regionals. We have to make a huge bump for that.

Unrelated, but the Oregon State catcher that we intentionally walked with the bases loaded was just drafted #1.

UC signee Morgan Colopy from Centerville was taken in the 34th round by the Giants.

And the Reds just took Bumpass in the 39th round!

He was taken in the 29th two years ago...that's got to hurt.

I don't know how familiar you are with the MLB draft, but the Seniors kinda get bullied almost. Teams know they have to sign and have no other real options.

Bumpass in the postseason performed more like Billy Hatcher in the '90 World Series. I hope he gets a shot at the bigs.

So is Michael Lindauer going to baseball here as well?

I'm glad you pointed it out because I had a very similar thought.

To see the team that eliminated us advance to the Championship is a great thing. We didn't lose to a piker and it gives us a glimpse of what we need to accomplish going forward.

Better days are ahead, I think.
