Future ACC MBB Matchups, 2019-22
From an ACC release: ACC Announces Matchups of Future Men's Basketball 20-Game Schedule
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today the future matchups of the league’s 20-game men’s basketball schedule, which begins with the 2019-20 season. The 20-game matrix is in effect for three years through the 2021-22 season.
Each team will play its two primary rivals every season both home and away (four games) and four repeat opponents both home and away (eight games). The remaining eight opponents will be single games, four at home and four on the road. The full cycle of repeat opponents will be complete following the third year.

No intent on expanding until after then, I guess?

Well isn't that when the other conference GoRs start to expire?
P.S. I'm surprised no one has commented on the actual matchups yet...

The ACC is so stacked in BKB that there aren't any bad seasons.
I only care about the home games. So VT has:
2019-20 Miami UVA Duke Syracuse FSU UNC and NCST. Missing out on Louisville and ND.
2020-21 Miami UVA Louisville FSU ND and Duke. Missing out on UNC NCST Syracuse
2021-22 Miami UVA UNC NCST Louisville ND and Syracuse. Missing out on Duke and FSU
As a whole I like 2020-21 the least because we don't play UNC or Cuse at home and 2019-20 the best because we get all of UVA Duke Syracuse and UNC at home. I hate missing out on Duke or UNC at home and prefer when we have them both at home.

For whatever reason, I favor the PAC and ACC over SEC and B1G - probably an underdog thing. Generally, I care more on a matchup basis so it could be that I would cheer on Vanderbilt over Clemson or Purdue over USC. That being said, regarding ACC expansion, I think the ACC is in a position of opportunity for XII gems.

I was thinking they’d add another permanent rival.
The following make more sense to me in basketball:
Miami v GT
ND v Pitt
VT vs Lou
Or ND v Lou and VT v Pitt.
Other match-ups that should be home and home:
UNC v Wake
UNC v UVa
ND v Lou (I really like this match-up)
BC v Pitt (Big East days)
FSU v GT
VT v Wake
Duke v UMd

Overall, I like this. A 20 game schedule, broken up this way, gets you through the conference well in a 3 year time span. I think it will benefit the conference in the sport, and it will benefit the network, which is why there is a move to 20 conference games to begin with.
From a Louisville perspective, it's pretty well balanced. And increasing the number of home-and-homes to 6 a year, is great. Our market loves college hoops at a rate higher than everywhere else in the country. So I expect we will be pretty locked in on this format.
I do wonder, if having a 20 game conference schedule will negatively impact post season success .... this is quite a gauntlet to navigate, and then take on the rigors of the one-and-you're-out big dance ... Hopefully, this only strengthens the post season success. Time will tell in the long run.

You'd have to add 2 more permanent partners because of the odd number of teams.

Hmm, well four is probably too many for most teams.

It's three years because the schedule is a three year cycle. Every school plays every other school twice home and twice away over the course of the cycle plus its two annual rivalry opponents, which it plays home and away every year. In the unlikely event that some kind of realignment occurred during the cycle, there would be no problem interrupting the cycle.
