Owners of the Red Bar, the iconic Grayton Beach restaurant and bar, are vowing to rebuild after its building was destroyed by fire.

Red Bar co-owner Oliver “Oli” Petit told the Northwest Florida Daily News thanked the community for its support and vowed to reopen.

“On behalf of my family and the staff of The Red Bar, I want to thank the community for the tremendous outpouring of support that we have already received. It means a lot to me that we live in a county where our leaders recognize the importance of our shared history, and the efforts so many of us make to shape our community in a positive and unique way.

My high school guitar teacher used to play in the house bar down there every weekend. The movie "The Truman Show" was filmed down there at Seaside and he said Jim Carry would come in often.
