If he can get a bigger contract overseas he should do that

I agree. The G-League seems to be more of a way to scam players than anything else.

It is a tough call really. Something DJ seemed to struggle with. If you play overseas you are kind of out of sight out of mind. If you play in the G league, you might get called up for a 30 day.

Explain? Scamming how? They are more in sight of nba gms. Closer to 2 way contracts. I'm not getting your logic.

I think it's a tough call, but Martin needs to go where the money is..

G league salaries have doubled in recent years, iirc.

I think people are selling Martin short.

We will see how well he can compete against bigger more athletic guards.

He has a shot

If you have a legitimate shot at the NBA, G league is the way to go.

Here's what the NBA is looking for:

1. 6-8 shooting guards
2. Guys who can jump over the rim.

If you're a 6-3 scorer, you're better of overseas. There are plenty of opportunities to make a good living.

Flyer at late second-round pick.

Probable G-League.

I could see JM finding a spot in the G-League. More freedom to run the floor and create to the rim, which he does pretty well. Would love to see his FT% improve, since he gets fouled a lot.

He will have the same struggle Elliot Williams had at the professional level, no right hand...

RE: Martin will be in the G-league next year.
Jeremiah should definitely try the G-League first. Most exposure to NBA scouts. He won't be drafted, but I think he has a shot at the G League. NBA loves stats like steals, shows instinct and athleticism, and Jeremiah has been top 20 in steals the last 2 seasons. And dropping 41 in a half gets notice. A con is that Jeremiah will be 23 in June, which these days is old to start a pro career. Will be interesting to see what his actual measurements are. Is he really 6'3", or do we find out he's really 6'1.5"?

6-8 shooting guards...LOL..ok

Do they exist...Yes.

Are they the norm...NOPE

Westbrook 6'3, Harden 6'5, Curry 6'3 and the only one of those who is a freakish athlete is Westbrook...That is a list of arguably the best backcourt players in the NBA

None of those players are really shooting guards. Westbrook and Curry are point guards and Harden is more so now that Paul is gone.

WTS, you dont need to be 6'8" to be a shooting guard but you do need to have something about your game that is elite....that makes you different. Martin does a lot of things really well but Im not sure any skill he has is elite.

Said another way: There is a long long list of great college shooting guards 6'3" and under who got little or no chance in the NBA. NBA execs value Height and Elite Athleticism. They can find 10 guys exactly like JM tomorrow.

The league also values bucket getters and that's exactly what Martin is.

Martin is as much a point guard as any of the guys listed above...Either way he is going to have to earn it but he has a shot.
