RE: 2020 Official Recruiting Thread
Toledo is ridiculous when it comes to recruiting offers. They averaged 400 offers in the last 2 seasons! Most MAC teams avg around 150-175. The military is more selective when it comes to trying to enlist guys.

It seems like we are going after highly rated guys
I don’t remember seeing this many offers this early in the process
A few seem to have Purdue offers as well, probably the new DC extending offers to guys on his radar there.
I like the early offers to high rated recruits
We’ve adopted the Toledo spray and pray method of offering any and everyone. In fact, when ever 247 gives any player a star rating of any kind, it comes with a complimentary Toledo recruit offer.
Lol and so true.

First 2020 Verbal?
May be time to start the "2020 Official Verbal Thread" on here.
Also, someone needs to tell Coach Wilkins that NIU doesn't have any boats, rowing or otherwise.

Based on Twitter, we may have had more offers out today than bobblheads given out.

Actually, NIU does. Outdoor rec rents gear, including canoes with "NIU" stencils on the bow. However, it would have to be one damn big canoe for a coach and a recruit. Otherwise, it's swim city. Coach Wilkins might be a fisherman ("landing a big one") but your PJFleck reference is definitely a good catch.

RE: 2020 Official Recruiting Thread
The thing I like the most about the Junior Day is it was a great opportunity to get a lot of our local talent out to DeKalb... there may have been a sprinkle of players that came from 2-3 states away, but I’d assume the majority were in-state and Wisconsin kids. The kid I’ve been trying to get on NIU’s radar finally is on that radar thanks to the new coaching staff and their commitment to social media. From the day I tagged him and a couple of the coaches in a tweet, he’s been in contact with our current staff and was at the Junior Day. The level of hype and excitement surrounding our program right now is damn near visible, this team may truly be getting ready to take that next step.
Kid I’m talking about btw - Nazareth Bryant from Oak Park River Forest

One of my questions about our recruiting is do we have the budget to recruit nationally. Flying back and forth to Florida, NJ etc. is expensive. In Chicagoland area, you can hit a lot more potential recruits because you can drive. If you spend a lot of money going to Florida, Texas, NJ etc. and come up empty, that is a waste of resources and NIU has a tight budget.
Flying to FL has gotten alot less expensive with SPirit and Frontier flying there from OHare. RT to Florida can be had for $150 if you fly middle of the week. thats less than what I paid to fly to Tampa on Southwest for my honeymoon 30+ years ago.

there is a ton of talent to be had in surrounding states (WI MN IN MO etc) thats driveable, so hope the staff does work within 300 miles of DeKalb before looking at TX & FL unless they have connections with HS coaches in those states who can promote NIU to their student athletes

Sounds like Hammock tweeted we have another commit, it’s looking like a lineman. Anyone do some investigating and know who it is?
