Penny's ROI
mens basketball attendance

2018 19 games 118,277 gross 6,225 average
2019 14 games 216,762 gross 15,483 average

if the last 3 games remain the same average
we have an increase in ticket sales of 144,934

if we use an average of $20 a ticket that
would give us an increase in revenue of $2,898,680

a lot of these seats require donations
if we use a 1 to 1 ratio, then add another $3m to the number

so penny has added about $6m in revenue for 2019

RE: Penny's ROI
The death of apathy surrounding the basketball team is worth as much as wins and losses at this point.

Here's 2016 and 2015... still looking for 2017. If it dipped sharply, they may not have wanted to post it.

"$7.60 million: Outside contributions to the Memphis athletic department in 2016, up from $6.682 million the previous year. "

RE: Penny's ROI
Memphis athletics turns profit despite combined $2.5M drop in donations, football revenue

https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/s...335386002/

Quote:During the 2016-17 fiscal year, university documents show contributions to the school's athletic department fell by nearly $1.1 million due to the men's basketball program, and revenue from football dropped by more than $1.4 million because of a decline in ticket sales.

Quote:Donations dropped from more than $7.6 million in 2016 to about $6.5 million in 2017, a $1.1 million loss that is also slightly lower than the contributions Memphis received in 2015 (approximately $6.68 million).

Eric Sabin, Memphis associate athletic director of finance, wrote in an email that, "contributions were down primarily due to required donations for men's basketball season tickets."

During the 2016-17 season, announced attendance for the Tigers' men's basketball program hit a 35-year-low when the team averaged 9,622 fans per game.

And don't forget the extra $$$ we get from the Grizz for attendance this year.

Memphis basketball missed out on entire $800,000 payment from Memphis Grizzlies in 2017-18

Your math is way off. It's more like $10-12 million.
