RE: WAC basketball week 15
I feel like the UVU and RGV game will play a large role in the final conference standings. There is still a little movement possible between teams, within a spot or two, (based on reasonable expectations I mean. I know anything COULD happen...) but this game will help sort out a lot, in my view. This may be RGV's first foray into the WAC 's top half

Yah, its interesting this year. Almost EVERY school has a chance to have SOME effect on the conference outcome, many as legitimate spoilers with the improved play. To me it makes things much more interesting when schools aren't just written off in matchups.

Sitting on a toilet somewhere and interacting with you.

Good stuff, Todor and Runner. I have never watched so much WAC basketball in my life (teams other than the Aggies). I also find myself WAC scoreboard watching a lot more. The WAC has really improved and I'm really happy to see that.

RE: WAC basketball week 15
SU on the mend. Every player back and healthy this week (as of last weekend, who knows at the rate it's gone) 1 game in nearly two weeks is exactly what this team needed. 7 guys recovered from injury/illness during this time.

Only two ruled out for RGV and NMSU: unfortunately two starters, and one of them was the only guy who had a good game vs NMSU this year (unless you don't count foul trouble).

Matej Kavas has been out since the GCU game in early January, where he reinjured himself after getting hurt days prior at the start of the season opener vs CSUB. Arguably the best SU player, he is expected back next week vs CSU and UMKC. Sad he won't play vs RGV and NMSU but take what we can get.

Delante Jones has been out since the CSU/UMKC road trip 3 weeks ago. We are told it's a leg injury, but he is somewhere between day to day and out for season. He could apparently return after this week or we don't see him again. I don't know how to take that but it's what Hayford said, so I'm suspicious there's something non-injury related going on.

So Seattle U is more healthy, pending any issues this week at practice (knock on wood) and should be down just two starters this time

It's funny (in an ironic way) that anyone is happy about being down 2 starters, but the way Seattle's luck has gone this srason...

Maybe they can close out on a good note and have good momentum for next season. So they return a lot of guys?

When Seattle played the Aggies in Seattle, I remember one post player got his 4th foul very early in the second half.

When Seattle played the Aggies in Seattle, I remember one post player got his 4th foul very early in the second half.

Myles Carter. He only played 22 minutes with his foul issues, but when he was on the court SU outscored NMSU. In the 18 minutes he wasn't, it was enough for a 17-point Aggies win. That's his big issue though in most games.

I'm really looking forward to Vegas. Keep everyone healthy and have four games vs **quality** WAC teams (GCU, UVU, CSUB, at CBU) to play together again, then Vegas. GCU I'm worried about matchup wise but healthy it's possible. NMSU never is easy, but SU nearly won the series last year 2-1 and is a better team (when healthy) now. A lot to ask after a month and a half of free fall, but good luck to the #2 or #3 seed.

They return every single guy next year. Two open spots it sounds like they will give to grad transfers to bolster depth. Plus they have so much youth no need for freshman that class. Team is too talented to not go all-in next year with this team that will have 3 years together at that point. Add in the depth that will have a little more experience, and there's a 10~ man rotation.

Only flight risks are Mattia Da Campo and a couple bench guys who may not like losing their minutes off the bench, but as long as it isn't Trey Hopkins or one of the two bench big men it won't be a big deal.

CBU smacked around Bethesda last night. If I remember right it's the same schools from the NCCAA and they are 1-20something. Idaho beat them earlier this year

NMSU wins by 20+ on Saturday in front of a sold out Pan American Center.

I'm curious. How many games have the Aggies sold out this year? And what exactly is the Pan Am Center's capacity? I thought it was larger than the GCU Arena but the attendance numbers do not reflect that. Is there a special promotion for the SU game that is going to help the game become a sell out?

I guess you haven't been there. It is quite larger than GCU arena. Official capacity is 12482. Every year our AD does a special promotion and "sells out" the tickets but I guarantee you there will probably be 8000-9000 warm bodies at the game. Last year it was a sell out for GCU. There were actual warm bodies at the game. There was over 13000 for that game. It was a Saturday game and the Havocs were there in full force. School was also in session. It took me back to the 90s when in the old days the Pan Am used to sell out on a regular basis but that does not happen anymore. During the year the lower bowl is only used which still makes for a pretty intense environment. I think the first year our AD did it there was over 12000 for Chicago State, over 9000 for UMKC, over 13000 for GCU and I think we will see 8000 for Seattle. All those games were officially "sell outs" but actual warm bodies is what I have listed. Franks bragging about it like it means something but I'm ashamed of the support we give such an awesome basketball program as a community. It has been discussed Ad nauseam on our board about attendance issues and why its happening but I'm to tired. Its an older arena but it is a great venue to watch college basketball. Great sight lines. It definitely needs some TLC in a lot of areas. You can see the pic of last years GCU/NMSU game below. I was fortunate to be sitting court side on one of those tables. What a great game.

I hope NMSU never changes that court. The simplistic, retro design with the parquet floor is perfect

Thanks Dancing for the info here. I do regret not yet getting the opportunity to attend a game at the Pan Am center in person. Hopefully next season. I was just curious about whether or not there would be a special promotion for the Seattle game. Sounds like there will be. So far the WAC website is showing NMSU averaging 5,147 for their home WAC games so I was surprised that Seattle would be a sell-out. However, it makes sense if it is a special promotion. Hope the place is packed. Basketball is always better before a large crowd.

The floors great, with the exception of the logo mid court. Majority of NMSU fans would prefer the pistol pete logo. The current one is an academic logo and put on there to placate the small PC crowd at NMSU, that has become non existent for over the last dozen years.

Ah well in that case I agree. I thought it was to add to the retro look. That reasoning behind it kinda ruins the point.

Seattle U used the retro logo in KeyArena, modern at Redhawk Center. I'll miss it, but doubt it comes to the new NBA arena. They'll have a new court

I get amazed when I see attendance figures cause the lower bowl is really packed every game and no doubt we have a great raucous crowd pretty much every game. Our home record is proof. No home arena in the WAC has the record NMSU has, not even close.

It would be cool to have a retro logo on the floor, but we'd probably get sued by Oklahoma State again.
