How do other schools get around these things? It happens. A coach is fired and a new guy is on within a week or Even days.

Different States have differing requirements.

Also, some coaches are employed by a school's Athletic arm (like ODAF) that are private organizations and not subject a particular State's requirements.

Most years but this is his best class ever. I haven't looked since he decommitted. But the last time I checked, it was a top 3 score by average recruit score.

The loss of OD brought the average down precisely .0011, which ties us for 5th with LaTech (UAB is alone in 4th by just .0002)

And yes, by average recruit score, I believe this was, and still is, best class since the re-start.

But I don't get the angst. On the field performance and the obvious coaching change both make recruiting tricky. Whoever has been holding this class together this long deserves a raise.

I definitely agree with your last comment. It's been amazing that in by far our worst season in FBS that they've been able to recruit like this. Maybe it's the new stadium or maybe it's the promise of early playing time (or a mixture of both), but whoever can be attributed for this should be retained.

Because we finally brought in coaches known for their recruiting. Bobby couldnt recruit an ant into a lunch bag and it finally showed as soon as we hired coaches worth a ****.

Maybe if he would've ditched his Maine homeboys a little sooner he wouldnt be riding out on his horse with them at end of season, at least most of us are hoping.

Or maybe not playing in 1930s foreman field helped as well...

Shouldn't that have helped last year, when we had the 13th ranked class in CUSA?

Im not sure that ranking takes into account all the transfers and JUCO players since it lists us as 10 3 star recruits and 0 4 star recruits. (Brewton was a 4 star recruit)

It also probably helps to actually see the stadium.

But, I think last years class was the best we've had since the Lawry class. And this upcoming one (if by some miracle they all stay) will be the best in terms of talent; albeit a smaller class due to lack of scholarships.

JuCos are included, grad transfers are not. And while I agree that they injected some talent last year. We should have seen a bump long before they decided to take on all the transfers and JuCos. But we didn't. That class was ranked low the entire cycle.

RE: Football Recruiting: 2020
We should have seen a jump in recruiting after the bowl game win, and two seasons ago when we had renderings and a timeline for the stadium. Those guys are our redshirt freshman this year. This should be our third top third CUSA recruiting class, instead its our first decent one in a long time (with the exception of a few players, who are truly great). And this decent class is currently ranked 11th in the conference (lower due largely to number of commits)

Names are starting to be added to the transfer portal. Austin Wood and Parrish Gordon are now listed;

Neither player was a major contributor. May have left regardless.

Think both will be grad transfers. And with the lack of scholarships available, the next coach needs open spots. So it's not the worst thing but we still need to bring someone in quick to keep the talent from leaving too.

Wood has only been here 2 years, right?

But, these are the type of fringe players that are probably better off (for them and the school) leaving. Its the major contributors I'm concerned about.

Correct, for some reason I thought he was in his third. We agree on the talent. We have a chance to bounce back in a big way but it'll require guys like LaLa and KFD to return.

Yeah, with a lot of young talent that got to contribute way earlier than they would have normally been able to. And who, if they stay, would be major players in 3 years.

We weren't 1-11 because we had no good players.

We must keep:

Lala (chance he goes)
Fitzgerald
Saldiveri
Moore
Wolff
Baum
KFD
Kounta

There are others but, these are guys that would be major contributors .

I agree with your list. I would absolutely hate to lose LaLa. He's my favorite Monarch.

He's R-So, so yes third year. 2017 class. Never really caught in here. I'd heard rumblings he may have entered earlier this year, but I guess he waited.

Interesting that both transfers are safeties, esp given some of the potential coaching scenarios.
