We'll see when he is cleared to play by the NFL.

RE: Just Saw That Browns Signed Kareem Hunt
As a Browns fan I really don't like this situation. The guy was a 3rd round pick two years ago and because he "effed up", which he did, he got released from his rookie deal that paid him under market value. I imagine this years deal is probably comparable to what he would have made in KC as he's looking for an opportunity to prove himself. If he's cleared to play and puts up big numbers this year, he'll hit FA next season after only 3 years in the league and will get his big pay day. Had he been a well behaved citizen he wouldn't be able to hit FA until after his 4th season. It seems like by enabling him to play, especially on a 1 year deal, he's being rewarded, not punished.

Fair points but he was cut because he lied to the Cheifs. If he had come clean he would have been suspended a game or two, possibly not at all. The cops had that video and decided not to detain or charge him. Kareem Hunt broke zero laws and will not serve any time for what was seen on that TMZ cut up. One where lots of important information was left off to incriminate him...

I do not condone any type of harm to a female. Nor do I condone being in a situation like that.... But if you and your buddies go out and find some cute girls, then you realize one is underage so you kick them out of your room, then they stand out side and yell racial profanities at you for nearly a half hour... How many players in the NFL or just human beings resist completely and get out of that situation perfectly???

It'd be sad if Kareem didn't get another shot because of something at least 50% out of his control. He should be punished and get a 2nd chance, just as any citizen should for that behavior. People with actual convictions deserve 2nd chances. It's a live and learn experience.

Yeah... I don't either.. especially since we already have Chubb..

Granted, it'll be nice having depth at the position... especially if the Browns could put a post season run together next season...

And it makes sense since Dorsey (I believe) recruited him to Kansas City...

However... he's damaged goods and not a super great look for the Browns.

He's on the commissioners exempt list so he can't play until he's reinstated by Goodell. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a 2nd chance. I just don't like the fact he now has the opportunity to make several million additional dollars because he harmed a woman. There just seems to be a flaw in the system to allow such a thing.

RE: Just Saw That Browns Signed Kareem Hunt
Sometimes good people do really dumb and bad things--especially if they have been drinking. People in Toledo loved him. He was a really decent guy when he went to school here. He put himself in a bad situation and handled it atrociously. He is paying the price. He deserves a chance to show his home town that he is good people. Let him serve a suspension then play for the Browns. Even criminals can be rehabilitated. Kareem is guilty of terrible judgment but he is not a criminal.

Big Ben has plenty of nicknames with the "R" word in it. He is still beloved by Steelers nation and will be a hall of famer. Give Reem a chance to make up for what he did.

Hunt did not harm her. She punched him. He pushed her. He was being an a$$hole when he gave her the little kick at the end of the video, but she was the one lucky to not get locked up as she broke several laws that night, was trespassing during the altercation, and was the aggressor if you watch the entire tape and read the accounts of the witnesses. I'm not defending Hunt's actions. He shouldn't have put hands on her despite her multiple attempts to provoke him. The reality though is he is paying for the much worse more violent sins of other NFL players that were lightly punished and brought the league bad press.

Contract wise it will work out basically the same as if he stayed on his rookie deal. And, if you want to go there, he was an all pro playing for a hair over the league minimum.

RE: Just Saw That Browns Signed Kareem Hunt
Been a Browns fan my whole life. Nothing made me happier than seeing my favorite pro team give a Rocket legend the 2nd chance he rightfully deserves.

The "woman," "girl" some of you keep referring to is actually a CRIMINAL...underage drinking, refusing to leave someone's property (trespassing), yelling racial slurs (HATE CRIME). But that's the vital information you never read or hear about in the major news outlets.

Ben was never charged with a crime because he did not commit any. He was out looking for girls to have sex with, probably the same as Hunt. The police interviews of the two different women and witnesses are probably still floating around the internet somewhere. In both cases there was flirtation and sexual inuendo from both parties leading up to having sex. In neither case is there any evidence of forced sex. If you think otherwise, I would suggest you take the time to look these incidents up and find out what the actual testimony was. Ben was basically punished by the NFL for bringing terrible publicity to the league.

His parents moved in with him and got him back to his roots which included religion and a year later he got married and now has 3 kids. He also went back to Miami and completed his last year of college and got his degree with some independent study courses and then also donated a million dollars to the University to help build our indoor performance field.

Hunt was out with friends including his long time girlfriend. He wasn't "looking for women" and the woman he scuffled with and him had no romantic/sexual connection.

I remember the bar rape accusation against big Ben. Pretty typical scenario where a woman is interested in a guy, they flirt or mess around but he gets sexually aggressive and pressures or forces her to do things she does not want. She speaks up about it and her accusation is discounted because she was drunk and went to 2nd base voluntarily. For her it will always be rape. The courts or cops often see it differently.

You really need to go back and read the testimony of the witnesses, including her interview with the police. Your scenario is not quite right, the strongest statement that she made was that just before they had sex she said " you know, we don't really have to do this" but they were both drunk and went ahead and did it. She did not really come forward and accuse him, her sorority friends she was there with called the cops.
