oh? when you have union backing, you're not 'at will'

You're not 'at will' if you have ANY kind of contract. The union is irrelevant to that conversation. He had a contract. He had a union. He had lawyers. He's not working. That should tell you something.

It's not "protest" if there's no risk. In his case, he chose to do it on company time. Free speech isn't even applicable. Oh well. If he'd kep his protest of work time, he'd be playing, presuming the talent and that his off field protests didn't violate his contract.

Violation of NFL Personal Conduct Policy.

Rocket 75, Hunt was suspended for missing a bed check the night before a game. This came from a former coach/assistant that I know. Two games was a little steep I thought.

Michigan Rocket----Thank you for that information. That is a dumb thing to do but is certainly not an indication of violence or drinking or illegal substance abuse. Candle has kept this a big secret and this has led to speculation that Hunt was a "bad guy" even in college. Several articles I have read mentioned his 2 game suspension with the implication that he was not trustworthy going back to his Toledo days.

I had heard it was for something different from another guy associated with the program. No need to divulge it on a message board, but I can say that in no way was it violent. May have occurred while he was out and missing bed check?

RE: Hunt Signs with Browns
On one hand I'd like commend the NFL for taking a tough stance with Hunt, thinking after everything that has happened in the last couple years, maybe they finally are getting how violence against women can't be tolerated.

Then I see the GM for the Lions come out and say they didn't pursue Hunt because he only wants "good people" on his team. This, the same fellow that not long ago hired a head coach who was indicted for sexual assault in college and who is still employing a player who punched a police officer after not wanting to pay a #30 cab fare. Good people, yeah.

Not trying to defend Hunt but, the Steelers' Antonio Brown, who now wants to be traded, was recently arrested for going 100 in a 45mph zone and last month his girlfriend said she was injured when he pushed her to the floor. How many teams will line up to sign him? Mississippi State DL Jeffery Simmons, who is considered to be a first round draft pick, was arrested in 2016 when a video showed him standing over a woman and punching her. Didn't stop him from playing at MSU, and won't stop him from being drafted, although his recently torn ACL might.

As a lifelong Steelers fan, I really think Burfict scrambled his brain on that cheap shot at the end of 2017. He hasn’t seemed himself since. Perhaps it’s team chemistry/politics or problems in his personal life, but his attitude has markedly changed over the last season.

agreed, i think there's alot more we dont know though. there could be people chirping at each other in the locker room over various things. and that's not a stretch since we saw how they treated bell after he left the team.

It will be fun to see how this goes down. Uh, let me rephrase- it will be interesting to see how the NFL handles this. I suspect he’ll be suspended from playing the first two games. Or since it’s the Patriots the Browns May have to give up a first round draft pick.

So which is worse, human trafficking or physical assault? Or is it the same?

You could argue that there are levels of assault. A shove can be an assault and beating someone senseless is also assault. Human trafficking is horrible no matter how you put it.

I can be doing 75 in a 70 mph zone and get caught speeding and I am wrong. But doing 120 in a school zone fleeing the police is on a different level. Both are speeding.

In other news, Johnny Manziel has been kicked out of the CFL permanently. Unstated reasons, but he has had domestic violence issues in his past. Already being discussed which AAF or XFL team may sign him, so will be interesting to see if he gets his 3rd or 4th chance.

Not sure I'm on board with the idea that Cleveland is the best place for him. Regardless, I hope he is committed to getting the past behind him and getting himself in a better place. It will take commitment, but it can be done.
