RE: Basketball Breakfast
Hard to make a 7:30 breakfast when you wake up at 7:10. Next time I will remember to set an alarm. Hope you all enjoy and someone gives us a good report. Cheers, guys! Go Monarchs!

I don't think he was there. I wonder if he had class.

Any news from the breakfast? I would think there would be quite the buzz considering UTSA lost last night, putting first place solely in our hands... for now.

Lots of discussion of the pod system. JJ was supportive of the pod system but many were questioning the benefit. Key thing was playing the same top teams likely in back to back to back weeks. JJ said it was nice to be on top of conference but it means nothing. It is game by game. BJ did a very nice job when interviewed. Basically thanked everyone. No real news. Nice seeing Blue Trombone, Obiwan, MF4L, and Coach.

RE: Basketball Breakfast
It was a fun time, would recommend Monarch faithful to try out at least once. Kelvin Jefferson did the breakdown for the scouting report. Jon Davis is obviously the #1 guy, but he went into discussion about how Charlotte employs the continuity offense and the Princeton offense (also, if you need a refresher on these offenses, I HIGHLY recommend hoopvision68's videos [below] talking about these subjects, very informative). The 49ers try to find transition opportunities, barring that they try to go to the post early, and if that's taken away they run the continuity to try and find open shots. Jefferson also emphasized how ODU needs to limit open 3 and defend without fouling as keys to winning the game. Everyone that spoke talked about how we are NOT going to take Charlotte for granted, no matter where they are in the standings.
Also, I would like to thank ODUCoach and everyone else for welcoming me! It was great to meet you all and talk shop about ODU basketball (one of my favorite subjects). If y'all ever see me at a game don't be afraid to say hi! Though, I'm terrible with names, so if I don't remember you immediately please don't take offense.

Thanks for the update. Wish I could have been there. Question, were the freshmen there? How about Godwin and Oliver?

RE: Basketball Breakfast
Aaron Carver was there as was Elbert. I turned around and ran into his waistline!! Alfis was there also.
Ahmad came in about 10 minutes after Ted started the presentation. He sat down quickly at our table. Not sure if he was trying to sneak in!! He looked rested! This week and next with only one game each will do wonders for refreshing their energy!
Coach Jones was asked for an injury report. He said everyone is a little banged up. BJ, he said, is just old and has an bruised body. Marquis has his boot off but for none of us to expect him back this year. But if he is able to return this year it should be a real surprise.
Someone said Elbert just had his best practice ever.
Frank Smith (all time leader in steals and assists (?? someone correct me if I I'm wrong on those accolades) was introduced. He was sitting with a very tall, athletic looking young man. Anyone know who that was??? It did not look like Coach Jefferson's son.
I thought the bacon was good and not soggy but the potatoes were awful!
Those who know me are just floored I made it to a BB breakfast. I am SOOO not a morning person. But I actually made it there on time, with my hair combed and matching shoes!!

His name is Brian Thornton and he played at Xavier. Works with Frank Smith for the NCAA. Not sure what they do with the NCAA. Hopefully they have some pull with the selection committee!!

Also, for what it's worth, the women are having a breakfast this Wednesday. You can register here: https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=Hc4XqG
As stated last year.....for those who know me you must be floored to hear I made a 7:30 breakfast now that I'm retired! My hair was even brushed and I had matching shoes on!!
Jason was there with his brace on and crutches under his arms. He sat at our table since ours was the first one in the door. He said it hurts but he's determined to rehab and be ready for next year! He seemed a bit tired and probably under the pain pills' influence. I told him I felt his pain since I'm just a couple months from my knee replacement. He (along with Drew Williamson) have to be the nicest kids EVER!
AC was interviewed and said he really has tried to do everything he can to make this, his final year, impactful to the team. I think we can all agree he has.
Ted thanked Jason for being there. Almost every person and player came by as they left to speak to Jason. You got the feeling that every player is determined to play their best for JWade.
Coach Richardson went over the scout for UTSA...unfortunately it did not include releasing extra strength flu virus into Jackson's (45 pt record) hotel room.
I thought the bacon was good but I have a sneaking suspicion that the eggs are powdered!!
I'm sure I've forgotten something....but never mind....

Thanks, great report! I wish I could have been there. Carver has certainly given his all this year and Monarch Nation appreciates his contributions. And Wade is one classy guy. Even though the season didn’t start well, there is that feeling that things could turned around if Jason had not been hurt. He was really coming around when his season ended. It’s great to hear the breakfast was a success.
