Can’t believe Verno never found a landing spot on the radio. Podcasts are for radio losers. Shame.

I personally listen to a little bit of all the podcasts from 92.9. Just look at the details and see what is being talked about and skip to anything that interest you. I tried listening to sports 56 but it just bored me to death.

Exactly what I did/do.

My recommendation is try all the various podcasts from 56 and 92.9 for a week. Then subscribe to the one you like. They're all a bit different.

I used to like GP most, but have grown tired of his "this is what I told you a month ago and why I'm right and you're wrong" stuff.

Now I prefer J&J. Yeah, Martin is still immature, even though he's gotta be pushing 30. But they do click together. And they've improved a lot in 2 years. Better guests, and I feel they cover the Tigers the best of the regular shows.

The advantage with podcasts is you can skip commercials and skip to the segments you want to listen to. They are straight records of the live show and 92.9 usually uploads theirs within an hour of the live show concluding.

Had a great line today about he isn't going to let listeners dictate what he is going to talk about.

That's a great idea. We are here for him, he's not here for us, right?

To each their own, but it is the future. Otherwise why would Spotify spend $230M last week on a podcast production company? As a non-local, I'm happy to have the options with all the podcasts about Memphis sports.

Which radio sports talk shows are the best about covering the Tigers? I prefer shows sans silly effects, moronic banter, and baiting "takes".

Thank you.

I refuse to listen to any until each host publishes on their web page, or announces before every segment, ANY potential conflict of interest that person might have.

Including, but not limited to providing demographic info of where the host was raised to indicate any regional bias, college attended and any favorite sports teams the host or has and of immediate family including spouse.

If child(ren) are older than 15, any sports interests they might have and, if college age or older, any collegiate allegiances of the children.

If discussing MMA or Boxing, any disclaimer regarding preferences of either combat sport.

If a person does not like a sport (ie auto racing, soccer, hockey) that conflict must me addressed prior to every segment regarding such subject.

That is a start...

If listeners = ratings then I would imagine the above statement isn't completely true.

Used to be Parrish, but after Pastner was fired, Parrish lost all of his connections. Now he is completely clueless about what is happening at Memphis but still wants to pretend that he knows things.

John and Jason is really the most connected at this point, but you have to wade through John's immaturish, bullying, deflection issues. And, yes, they will be wrong from time to time. 560 is just trash IMO. A 2 hour show is 1 hour of real commercials and another 45 minutes of plugs, so after listening for 2 hours you get about 15 total minutes of sports talk and only a few minutes of that is Tigers.

Hasseltine seems to be a good guy, but his talk show is by far the most boring show I have listened to. He is not a talk show host, he is a Grizzly employee who has a talk show. That actually might appeal to you. He is not going to stir the pot or cause people to call in mad at him. He will have Giannotto and Jonah come on regularly to talk Tigers.

Are the two primary sports talk stations in Memphis 92.9fm/79am and 103.1fm/56am?

Yes. those are the two most well known stations. There is a 680 or something but the few times I have tried to listen, the signal was so terrible that I gave up.

The only ones I would recommend are Calkins and Woloshin. They both talk a lot of Tigers.

You can get info from Jason and John as with Parrish, but John can be extremely annoying and immature , I often have to turn it off, and Gary can't wait to tell you how amazingly stupendous he is and how much more he knows and how much wiser he is than everyone else.

Next time you listen to Hasseltine interview someone, pay attention to who is doing the talking, Eric can't shut up long enough for the interviewee to answer a question.

And the kid that is Calkins new side kick can't seem to keep from interrupting Geoff either.

Listen, I knew all this. I had a couple of coaches call me last week and tell me the exact same thing. I just couldn't say anything. Now that you have said it, I can now say that what you are saying is true because coaches told me. There are other things I know, that I can't say, but coaches called me and told me. When someone else goes public with what I know, I will be able to then tell you that I already knew and verify what they are telling you since coaches called me and told me.

GP

I rarely post here any longer, and even more rarely read whole threads. That said, I read yours here and was thinking "who is this MF'er, and who the heck does he think he is??"
