Nah.

But if it was egregious enough to walk across the court, then

1. How the hell did he hear the offensive words in the first place? That joint was loud. And

2. He should have handled it thought the refs, who gave him an earful when he returned to the huddle.

It is funny and good for the game. A little wrasslin type theater would be good for thw conference

Agree. Check out Geoff Calkins' article about Hurley and the possibilities for a great rivalry, going forward.

https://www.dailymemphian.com/section/sp...at-rivalry

Great article that takes a good-natured look at the trashtalk. Thanks. Recommended reading for the future rivalry implications.

"Memphis – intent on ending its losing streak – leapt out to a 24-12 lead. But Hurley’s team did not go away. Nor did Hurley ever shut up. Like, ever. The soundtrack to this game was both loud and profane.

“GET THIS S*** UNDER SIX!” he screamed to his players.

And: “GREAT JOB, GREAT JOB, WAY TO BEAT THAT S**** And: “PLAY DEFENSE EVEN IF HE TRAVELS!”

And (referring to Jeremiah Martin): “HE BETTER SHUT HIS F****** MOUTH!

”It was both hilarious and astonishing. Bob Byrd – a Memphis fan who has been known to heckle opposing coaches from time to time – said he simply gave up trying to go word-for-word with Hurley.

He makes Bob Huggins look like a Boy Scout,” Byrd said. “He is the most obnoxious, foul-mouthed coach I have ever seen.”

Sounds like you haven't followed Hurley's career thru the years...dude is a ticking time bomb...and goes off all the time for no apparent reason.

Yeah, it seems he acts more like Bobby Knight than Mick Cronin. But as long as he doesn't really flip out I take him and the fans razzing each other as all in good fun, and probably good for business too.

It could be a hoot at the conference tourney if enough Memphis fans show up for the UConn game.

My wife, who has no idea who the Hurleys are, said he must've been picked on a lot as a kid. When I told her his brother is Bobby Hurley and explained that dynamic (Duke, Laettner, national champs vs playing for Seton Hall) and also mentioned that he couldn't carry Penny's jock on a basketball court, then she said, now I see why he's a raving lunatic on the sideline.

You and your wife sound quite familiar with Penny's jock. Interesting.

I missed it.

Did Hurley do his puffed out boo boo lip? That's so cute when he does that.

one time out he was miffed at the refs and picked up his little time out huddle stool and slammed it hard onto the court. i guess it didnt leave a divot. according to the twitter, he told whoever it was on the other side of the court to "sit down douchebag". bottom line was he wasted half his time outs yelling and stomping around instead of coaching his team.

That was a soft bouncer back to the mound, lol.

Huh?

What does that have to do with coaching ability?

That's something a 5 yr old might say.

Could Coach K carry Penny's jock on a basketball court? Could Cronin or Williams or even Calipari?

That means diddly in any coaching comparision.

You missed the point altogether. Danny lived his life in Bobby’s shadow as a player. He also isn’t 1/2 the player Penny is. Probably why he acts like a *******. But whatever. It was his first but certainly not last loss to Penny.

Major college sports and at its base it is just entertainment. People seem to be entertained by his antics.

Definitely...I couldn't take my eyes off of him when UCONN came to UCF...as you never knew what he was going to do/say, etc...
