Superman Actor Dean Cain Rips Apart Ilhan Omar’s Minimum-Wage Example
https://conservativefighters.org/news/su...e-example/

Quote:Whenever one sees that Rep. Ilhan Omar has gone viral these days, the odds are better than not that it involves some sort of gaffe. And while a clip of the Minnesota Democrat decrying the wages that McDonald’s workers receive initially went viral because it made her liberal fans happy, it quickly became apparent she had no idea what she was talking about.

In fact, her economics were so off that actor Dean Cain — who may have played Superman but certainly isn’t Milton Friedman when it comes to the dismal science — was able to rip it to shreds.

Responses:

She needs to learn what Median means. I know its a hard concept, but if you work more hours... you'll make more money.

$11 per hour x 40h x 50 weeks a year = $22,000
Her $7,000 dollar figure is based on ~12 hours a week.
Obviously a person cannot expect to support themselves on 12h of work a week at minimum wage.

If your skills only support a minimum wage job, you shouldn't be trying to support yourself... much less a family.

That said, all moving the min wage to $15 does is make more jobs min wage.

I started as an architectural intern making $15/hour quite recently. I've since improved dramatically and I'm now fully licensed, but still - I was worth way more than minimum wage back then.

Raising the min wage just hurts young professionals that want a firm to take a chance on them so that they can complete their professional program.

It's example #453 of how certain political leftists don't understand how a business or any other solvent non-government organization is ran.

RE: Superman Actor Dean Cain Rips Apart Ilhan Omar’s Minimum-Wage Example
The problem with raising the minimum wage is that one of two things will happen:

1. Current $15/hr employees are going to get fired if they are not profitable at an elevated rate immediately.
2. No one gets fired, but the value of the dollar takes a dip as goods and services will be more expensive to compensate for all of the new private earnings entering the marketplace.

how about this...

robotics/AI investment grows exponentially...

human skill set loss becomes the norm....

ability to comprehend the 'why' turns into panic....

illegal mexicans take over....

civil unrest continues to grow....

USD is reduced to rubble....

Exactly. Anybody been in a renovated McDonald's? Order takers are going away. They are forcing you to order at kiosks.

How dare you think that because you are educated and have skills you have more worth than Bill who barely got his GED and flips burgers at McDonalds.

Let me say it differently because I don't think I'm being clear....

I didn't mean it made more jobs.... I mean it made more jobs min wage. See Olive and Blue's comment. You will have people with GEDs making the same wages as people with technical degrees and even perhaps advanced degrees.

Minimum wage jobs should be for people with minimum skills and work ethic. People with minimum skills and work ethic shouldn't be able to support themselves on their own. They should need to have help from family, roommates or the government (people with differences).

Seriously, the left decries the high cost of education and then devalues the result of that education for most of the people they claim to want to help. Why GET an advanced degree if you get paid the same minimum wage as someone who doesn't?

Because then that person is helpless and needs big daddy government to come in and help him out. Making people Dependant on the gov is how they control people. It's how they made the majority of blacks Dependant on the system, now they want to everyone to need them so they can gain more power over more people.

RE: Superman Actor Dean Cain Rips Apart Ilhan Omar’s Minimum-Wage Example
Some of you have let the left move the needle on you....calling $11 an hour Minimum-Wage when it's $3.75 over the Minimum-Wage

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Smalltown USA is usually behind larger cities when it comes to Minimum-Wage type jobs. I live in a city of 54,000 and my home town (70 miles south) is 65,000. Over the last two years Minimum-Wage jobs have went the way of the cuckoo bird. Those that were paying $7.25 to $9 an hour are now $9.50 to $12 an hour for most. I'm talking store clerks, car washes, food service. When you can rent a 1 bedroom apt for $450 to $600 a month...

a single person can live on $11 to $12 an hour and own a car and pay for his or her food with a little left over to buy clothes and video games and pay their phone bill.

So if the wages are in the $9.50 to $12 an hour for starting out in Minimum-Wage type jobs in Owensboro and Bowling Green KY...small town USA. It's hard to believe anyone is being paid actual Minimum-Wage in larger cities.

BTW that pay increase in my home town and where I live today....came in the last couple years. You can talk about how the rich got the tax increase and how this President is bad for the poor or working class...

why is it they are making close to $4,000 a year more today instead of when President Obama was in office? When there are more jobs than people...if a place wants to keep their good workers. Their only choice is to pay them more money. It's the way it's suppose to work..the democrats are scared shittless that the working poor (all races) are waking up to see this.

Errrrr, and she said "puts in 40 hrs per day".

time/space jujitsu here. That dude is AMAZING!

Someone tell me, when does Guam flip back over again?

These people aren't just nuts, they're certifiable idiots.

That's not a good combination.

Said it before.....

If the total of your life's experiences, education, and training amount to you only being qualified for a job a trained ape could do......

Not my fault, not my problem.

If you want $15/hr, PROVE to the boss you're WORTH IT.

Exactly. Screwing up a cheeseburger order isn't the way to prove it.

and also..... is there anyone on the left who understands simple basic economics? Even 1 person? We know Bernie doesn't. We know the horse toothed bartender doesn't. We know Omar doesn't. Surely, the liberals can find 1 person on their side who gets it.

They still think taxing billionaires for every cent will pay for us to be equal.

Varies by state not by town. In MD it's $10.10. It doesn't matter if you live in a small town in Maryland... like I moved to last year. They have to be paid at least $10.10. So prices even in small rural places have gone up. A value meal at McDonalds is ~$8-9 now.
