Bryant has had a more difficult time driving to the bucket last two games as the big guys have been told to go help defend him. Opposing teams have adjusted. We apparently don’t have enough players to adjust for much of anything.

Or maybe being a top 5 team every year helps.
Putting a consistently good team on the court might not be the answer but id sure like to find out.

RE: Lovan -Charlotte Game
This season was headed in the right direction just a few weeks ago, losing Butler and Lovan hurt, not developing the bench hurt, we can point to what the coach controlled and what he cannot control. At the end of the day, the buck stops withh the coach. To his credit and I respect him for it, the coach isnt making excuses, he isn't pointing fingers, he is showing leadership.
For those who say the team has quit on him, go to the game and watch how hard the kids try, they are really playing their hearts out and leaving it on the floor. Having to play iron-man minutes hurt and fatigue makes cowards 9what appears to be a lack of trying) out of anyone.
The kids are trying, but they need rest, they need a bench.
Go Blazers, rebounder2u

It would be an interesting case study if Duke had 4 consecutive .500 seasons and how that affected their fan support....
When coach Ratface retires, we might find out to an extent if they don't hire well.

I remember back in the late 80's, students taking up sections 111,112,113, 216 and 217 for Old dominion, Jacksonville,etc...

nowadays you have to give out pizza or bbq to get 200 students...

Pathetic...

Reminds me of Murray’s last season with the injuries. Unfortunately we can’t sit around and wait hoping for the staff to take the next step.

We need to raise another million just to start a practice facility.
We need to raise an additional three milllion to finish paying for it.
We need to raise money to buy out contracts
We need to raise money to pay a better salary for A new coach and staff
We need to raise money for recruiting. Right now we don’t have a pot to piss in to recruit
We need to raise money and convince our AD to allow us to schedule teams out of our region for those constantly complaining about the schedule.
We need to raise money for marketing

We also need to stfu and show up to games because winning 26 games could not fill Bartow. We get a change we need to all show up and bring people.

Get ready to open your wallets. We want change we gotta pay for it like we did in football.

The board / AD / Watts is not going to allow any more funds to be spent towards basketball unless we raise them.

This. All of the "Not one more dime of my money" stuff is great on a message board to express dissatisfaction, but in the real world all it does is cut your own program's throat.

Recruiting is a program's life blood. Look what has happened with football since we got the new building built. Ehsan would look better if he could have landed better players and some quality depth. Our facilities are dated and suffer by comparison to other programs. If you want those to get better (and our players to get better) we need a basketball specific fundraising drive. Yeah, we keep being asked to pony up money, but the bottom line is that getting better is driven by the support of the fans and boosters far more than by the b*tching of fans and boosters.

I think that this home stand greatly increased the chance that Ehsan gets the hook. That said, the money to pay his buyout and for the contract of the next coach has to come from somewhere, and Watts has his foot on the UAB side of the budget still. You want to talk about hiring Andy Kennedy, you need to also be talking about making donations or it can't happen.

I'll support UAB basketball regardless too. I think everyone on this page will likely do the same. I have never quit coming to games and I root hard for this team.
I just hope things get better and fans will return and students will show up.

Remember what UNC did when Dean Smith retired? They did not risk their program by promoting or hiring an assistant coach. They went straight to Kansas and hired their BBHC. Duke will probably do the same thing, maybe from the same school. UAB does not operate in that rarified atmosphere.

Maybe those programs aren't in a bad a shape because the programs are supported even when they aren't winning.

Moreso the level of expectations regardless of the coach. This is a major problem going forward for UAB. Losing seasons lead to lessened expectations which lead to apathy and negative feelings toward the program. Tradition gets lost, especially with the new/nextgeneration...

The lack of school spirit by the current student base is crippling down the road.

When I look around my section at Bartow, its a bunch of geriatrics. Yes we all have money but we won't be slinging money at athletics in 20-30yrs or coming out to them cold winter night games like them young'uns do.

Somebody needs to think up ways to scare up some spirit. When kids show up, its always more rowdy than long tooth fans.

I agree that donating money towards Basketball things is also important. that why i donate a lot now.

Actually, 35 year UNC assistant coach, Bill Guthridge, replaced Coach Smith. After Guthridge came former UNC Player Matt Doherty. ?

We were tied for first place just a couple of weeks ago. Then we met the bottom feeders of the conference and found out we couldn’t even beat them - at Bartow Arena!

Butler & Lovan going out didn't help but let's just ignore that while we bash away.

Injuries happen to every team every year. It's how you adapt and overcome that separates the good from the bad. In year 4 under Ehsan we are still very bad. He's got to go.

When he goes will be the interesting story line. Probably not at the end of the this year. We don't have the money. He will just have to coach out his lame duck season next year and then get the axe.

Injuries happen. That's why you have to develop your bench players so they can be ready to step up. That hasn't happened.
