It's bricks as far as the eye can see.

Did a visit there when my son was looking at Engineering Schools. Thought the main "brick" campus was average compared to other schools we looked at. However I was impressed with the Graduate School Campus and the Athletic Complex where the football stadium and basketball center are located. Like many in town campus's the school has out grown the main campus and town but the outer campus's and complexes are very modern and NC State appears to have done a good job with their expansion projects. 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana COGS COGS COGS 04-cheers

I was in Raleigh over the Christmas break and met a recruiter. She said, "We give lip service to the University of North Carolina and Duke but we actively recruit students attending NC State. We like their students. It is the best school in the region."

The post graduation employment statistics don't bear this out. Either that recruiter was lying to you or was in some particular niche.

Depends on whether we're talking about specific programs. I would say that's pretty accurate if we're talking about engineering specifically. If you're looking to poach undergrads from another program for engineering, you'd want NC State kids. They are really the only other engineering program in the state that anyone has every heard of.

Other schools will be better with other programs
Medicine: ECU, UNC, and Duke
Marine Biology: UNCW and UNC (they have a nice setup in Morehead City)
Blackjack Dealing: UNC Pembroke

My daughter's top choices are James Madison and Virginia Tech. So we will find out about those by mid March. I believe she will end up a Duke at JMU. I have a niece there as well and my nephew graduated there a few years ago. Anyway, I am rambling.

Though I constantly exposed my kids to all things ECU growing up, ultimately, they had/have to choose the best path for them. And I am ok with that!

Toured VT for Engineering and talked to several Engineering Profs with my son a few years ago. Impressed with the campus and the Engineering Dept. Drive by James Madison every year on my annual trip to South Carolina. Campus looks nice from the highway but don't know much else about the school except what I have followed with their football program during football season. Both schools look like excellent choices for your daughter especially VT. 07-coffee3

He’s talking about employers. Pratt at duke is a very well known engineering school

ECU and NC State are athletic rivals. I have no problem knowing that NC State is a competitive school in a great market. Raleigh is a playground. If a person feels something is missing on the campus, you can find it somewhere in the area.

Meaning nobody from Duke wants to work for them and all the kids from UNC are douchenozzles.

Sorry but nobody actually think NC State is a better school than Duke.

Lol, it's not even the best school in the state, much less the region.

I think by region she meant county. Although I'd put Wake Tech first, followed by Campbell's Raleigh campus, Meredith, then the next couple are a toss up. Then, maybe State.

Buddy if you think nc state grads are getting hired on spec before Duke grads in engineering I've got a bridge to sell you.

My daughter is a sophomore at Tech; beautiful place and great school IMO. I wanted her to go to the snob school, UVA, she chose to oppose my view. In the end she made a good decision for her not me.

I visited James Madison University last weekend to give a talk. I was surprised at how many JMU students stated they wished to work for the FBI and CIA.

Doesn't James Madison have that mascot that is a bulldog in a pimp costume?
