The Academy closest to me (Doug Baker) had been carrying some stuff the last few years but now they're closing too. I guess it's UAB Bookstore or nothing.

Have you tried Dick's store on 280?

Not a Dick's fan but desperate times may push me in there to look.

How much of a cluster duck can Ingram get things into when after one of the most successful seasons in football history that we don't have anywhere to go to get UAB stuff?

Would have been the ideal time to open up the marketing of the merchandise to other players.

You have to wonder though if the BOT would have to bless us doing anything.

That stinks. How is this Ingram’s fault? This is basic economics, supply and demand.

Well, for starters UAB over its history has been reluctant to allow merchandise to be sold by others.

You had the bookstore, Snoozy's & nothing else.

Other programs have licensing with various places for their merchandise.

Want to get UAB stuff on a collegiate website? Good luck.

I know it is supply and demand. Right now the demand should be pretty high or at least higher than it has ever been.

You barely see blazer merchandise outside of those stores, maybe just some drinking cups and decals like at the Walmart near me. Matter of fact, I saw plenty of Alabama A&M/Alabama State merchandise compare to UAB! IDK what's up with the department who handles it.

UAB likes to "hold on" to their merchandise sales & in turn limits the amount of sales that you would have had it been licensed to others.

UAB hasn't allowed anyone to sell their stuff outside of the UAB Bookstore & Snoozy's for years.

They want to keep the money at UAB instead of allowing others to make a buck off of UAB merchandise.

Because of this, it has stifled the sales of UAB merchandise outside of 2 blocks of UAB.

If UAB licensed their product with collegiate marketing or whatever they are called, then when you see every other last university's stuff online you would also see UAB's stuff included.

Thanks for explaining. I am dumbfounded that UAB don't want to sell merchandise except for a handful of stores, they don't want their stuff to be on the back of Bubba's Ford F-150 like that Crimson letter? It is a dragon logo! How can it NOT be marketable!

One would think so.

But let's also be honest and mention that the UAB merchandise business isn't really one that could be extremely profitable either.

Snoozy's was able to do pretty good by selling textbooks along with merchandise.

This is why I thought that it was important after football's recent success that Mark open up the marketing of the merchandise to outside ventures.

Is there any actual evidence of UAB "holding back" merchandise sales? They use the same college licensing agent as most of the other big schools.

You can buy UAB merchandise at lots of places other than the UAB Bookstore or Snoozy's. I think what you guys are seeing is a lack of demand. I'm a UAB fan but when shirts cost $50+ I'm not going to have a wardrobe full of them

Unfortunately I think Brad probably fell victim to what doomed Snoozy's. The real money was in the books, and without that the extra stuff isn't a viable business

I shopped at MTMT this Christmas season but I saw several of their higher priced items (Wooly Threads, etc) for sale at a kiosk in the Galleria. They also had conference title and bowl champ t-shirts. Prices were the same.

Maybe we need a pinned thread at some point about where folks sight Blazer gear for sale.
