Video of AOC Discussing Campaign Finance Laws
Worth the watch, 5 mins.
https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4778922/a...thics-game

A little soap boxy and you can see the freshman congresswoman in her cadence and style but interesting none the less. She really has come out swinging.

I liked this comment:
Quote:Some people agree with AOC's politics, other people think she is literally the Demon that came to turn the US into North Korea and Venezuela. Regardless of your views, everyone must watch this video, not once does she mention party or ideology, she just sheds light on a major problem with the way our system works.

I think we have a lot of reform that needs to take place on campaign financing. Not a fan of Citizens United.

Amazing that you can comment on a 5 minute video and post in less than 4 minutes after I created the thread.

Great... so you don't like the speaker... but any comment on the actual topic at hand or what she said? Or are you just "AOC BAD. ALL SHE SAY BAD. BAD POLITICIAN. GOOD BARTENDER."

Laughable that you are picking around the edges trying to find what you agree with her on, instead of rejecting her wholesale as she is in the process of spawning a civil war inside your party.

The things your so-called frontrunners are co-sponsoring and saying they support are indefensible in a general election.

I watched all of it and heard nothing I hadn't heard before. Maybe that's not the case for you, so can you tell me something that was fresh or new? Most Americans know that you can get money from say...Welches grape juice and then become a 'welcher' and still be in Congress. But that applies for most things. So whats new or how did she enlighten you?

First, yes there needs to be campaign finance reform. No it will never happen.

Second, she sounds like an idiot going through how members of congress can write laws that benefit themselves and are subject to ethics committee oversight and complain that the President (who cannot write laws) is not subject to the same ethics committee oversight.

She doesn't know who writes laws.

She thinks the "3 chambers of Congress, uh, 3 branches of government" are the Presidency, the Senate, and the House.

It's adorable that you're trying to turn the "orange man bad" meme back onto those who do not care for AOC. Unfortunately for you, those of us on this board who range from centrists to far right politically - and libertarian - are well informed on what AOC stands for, what her views are on various issues and what she has been proposing for legislation. You're not talking to people who are ignorant of AOC and are simply not giving her a chance. We've formed opinions on her based on what she has been saying and doing. Just because she occasionally brings up a reasonable point, it doesn't mean that she isn't on balance wrong based on our opinions given our own political viewpoints.

No, it's called priorities and I'm giving you that free piece of advice for your own good. Your 2020 frontrunner is a co-sponsor of a bill that would decimate the US economy, and I'm just sitting back and laughing at the thought of how she'll spin it in the general. How she'll explain to Iowa farmers that she supports banning their tractors and crop dusters. How she'll explain to Houston that if she had it her way, their city would cease to exist.

Dems in safe districts aren't going to be able to resist AOC's fodder, as it will give them cover from being primaried by someone even further left, a strategy she has admitted she has no problem employing.

But when the rubber meets the road and dems are forced to vote, then what? She's about to rip your party in two, dude.

With that said, I have no problem supporting moderate dems who make an honest effort to compromise and live in the real world. I love what I'm hearing from Katie Hill, despite disagreeing with her on practically everything, because she is putting her philosophies aside, and concentrating on solving real problems. I applauded Sinema for what she did at the SOTU, and have a feeling she will make for a perfectly fine Senator.

I listened to it. I don't think she sounds that way because she's a freshman. She sounds that way because she's not that smart and she seems to be eager to open her mouth to prove it. How long did it take her to get to her first question? A minute and a half, because during most of that time she was talking about herself? She's vapid. But if the liberals want to get all excited about her, have at it.
