RE: Johnny Carson on taking political stands on Tonight Show
Colbert has never been anything but a comedic entertainer, who happened to recently, find a niche with political humor.

Limbaugh and Hannity portray themselves as “journalists” , not comedians. Big contrast. Unril it’s not convenient for them, Hannity flat out said he wasn’t one defending his hypocrisy for which he was called out.

Both staunch backers of this banana republic White House by the way.

Oh please!

Your shallow partisan loyalties blind you from the obvious - they are All cheap, unobjective hacks who do not think for themselves.

Look at how Colbert slammed(s) Howard Schultz?! Why would he even bring him up at this early-early stage?

Gotta do the bidding of others.

No thank you.

Oh please!! This from a guy that blames Clinton for us having Trump, not the plethora of GOP primary candidates he beat handily. Talk about partisan blinders.

You would not have made that last post if you had seen Todd Spangler's article in today's Detroit Free Press. It was about how Trump will struggle in Michigan in 2020 if voter turnout is similar to the mid-term elections.

The following quote sums-up what the article had to say about the 2016 presidential election and backs my non-partisan point:

“You have to remember, in our state in 2016, it was not so much that there was this massive outpouring for Trump,” said John C. Austin, a Democratic former State Board of Education president and now head of the Michigan Economic Center. “Nobody voted for Hillary basically.”

And similar things happened in other States.

Clinton pulled out of Michigan, Wisconsin and PA the final weeks of the campaing because she assumed they were already won and she was concerned about possibly losing the popular vote. She spent the final weeks in California and New York. Trump spent them in Michigan, Wisconsin and PA.

Trump was the GOP's (Tea Party's?) generous gift the the Democrats. It understandably became the Democrat's race to lose. Had the Dems run just about anyone besides Hillary Clinton, Trump would not be in the White House today.

Cheers and Go Broncos!

You don't get it. It is not about the GOP. It is about a Democrat nominee that neglected her primary base and gave away an election to a moron who did speak - disingenuously - to that base

The following LA Times article from December 2016 about Joe Biden and his perspective of the 2016 loss to Trump highlights things well:

https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-p...story.html

The Dems have no control over the GOP primary, and if they did, would have wanted Trump to win, anyway. This is about how what should have been a landslide victory was botched by an arrogant candidate who - according to former DNC Chair Donna Brazile - should not have been the party's nominee (read her book, "Hacks," and educate yourself with more information than you'll get from Colbert).

RE: Johnny Carson on taking political stands on Tonight Show
The best candidate won, Hillary Clinton is just a ticket stamper. She has never accomplished anything of significance as a Senator from NY, as Obama's Secretary of State or as Bill's defender from Bimbo eruptions. With her record of selling office access and leveraging her position as Secretary of State to embezzle donations to the Clinton Foundation, ANY other political figure would be behind bars long ago-but the normal rules don't apply to the Clintons.

Trump may be rude, crude, petty and lacking any capability in 'politician speak', but he has accomplished more in 2 years in office than the last two occupants of the White House combined. Trump is an unbelievably hard worker and he's accomplished what he has with ZERO respect from the News Media organizations-in fact daily outright hostility. Unemployment is at a historic low, wages are rising again, trade deals are being renegotiated to America's benefit-in fact we may soon have an unprecedented trade treaty with China which addresses LONGSTANDING issues which neither Bush nor Obama could resolve. We also have a reformed Tax Code for the first time in 30 years, Americans have more money in their pockets because of it.

You'd never have had any of this with Hillary Clinton in the White House, she's massively corrupt and only interested in feathering her own bed. If we had a Justice Department and FBI that weren't also massively corrupt at the leadership level there isn't a doubt in my mind she would have been indicted by now. Obama didn't do much in his 8 years in the White House, but he made sure he had a loyal cadre of minions assigned to leadership roles in the DOJ and FBI before he left office. They've done great good running cover for the Clintons and Barry O.

Dear BroncoPhilly,
Talk about not being up with the news, you obviously didn't read or hear that our president spends most of his time watching television and tweeting. So much for an unbelievably hard worker.
He gets no respect from the legitimate media because all he does is lie about everything. Who respects someone like that?
The average wage earner in America got very little out of the tax deal.
Corruption? It should be very obvious to you that the occupant of the White House is the most corrupt president since Warren Harding. Does not release his taxes, has not cut himself from the Trump entities, and keeps his family involved in government affairs.
President Obama is easily a better man than Trump, and was a President that was respected.

Quote:President Obama is easily a better man than Trump, and was a President that was respected.

By who? The Chinese wouldn't roll the red carpet out for him at the Beijing Economic Summit, though they did for EVERY other visiting national leader. He was left to climb down the ass end of Air Force One to be greeted by some low-level Chinese functionary. I compare that with how Donald Trump was welcomed in China by their President Xi-no comparison. Trump is respected around the world by the folks who matter, Obama lost the respect of those same people by his weakness, waffling and contempt for the nation he was elected to lead.

Of course, Obama can always claim popularity with the leaders of western Europe-most of whom lead nations with one foot over the economic abyss and the other one on a banana peel-deep in debt. They loved Obama because he diminished America in the eyes of the rest of the world-and when you're a leader over a failing nation misery loves company.

A lot of folks can't stand Trump, I understand that. They don't like his politics, his style, his personality. I get that, they have a visceral dislike of the man. But like the man or not, he has gotten a lot done in only 2 years. He's the hardest working President in my lifetime, no question. He has accomplished far more substantive deeds in 2 years than Obama did in 2 terms-Obama not setting any records for his focus on getting policy enacted. That's why he did everything with Executive Orders, he didn't have the work ethic or patience to negotiate and compromise with Congress and get actual legislation passed. All he had to show for 8 years was the disastrous ACA and his 'Stimulus Plan' which gave away $ 1.2 Trillion of the taxpayers money, much of it to 'green' companies which later went bankrupt. Even Jimmy Carter was a more successful President than that, and he was pretty unaccomplished!

As for the 'legitimate media', they can kiss my adze. I am 64 years old and I have never seen the TV or Print news media more one-sided than they are today. Not even during the tumultous Vietnam War with Nixon in the White House were they this biased. They give Trump nothing but negative coverage. The trouble for them is many Americans are wise to their slant by now and no longer watch them-viewership is at historic lows. I turned them off over 25 years ago and haven't watched them since-I get all the news I need from trusted sources on the internet. That's how Trump managed to get elected, even with their biased and negative coverage (and giving debate questions to Hillary ahead of time)-61 million Americans ignored our network media and pulled the lever for Trump.

Trump corrupt compared to the Clintons and Obama? We'll just have to agree to disagree on that. I never thought I'd live to see a sitting Secretary of State selling access and favors to foreign nations who contributed many Millions of Dollars to The Clinton Foundation. Trump would have to go a lonnnnng ways to beat that level of corruption. Please...

RE: Johnny Carson on taking political stands on Tonight Show
Dear BroncoPhilly,
This last statement of yours comes right out of Fox News. Which, just like Trump, leaves out facts that would present a more balanced coverage. For example, you leave out the fact that President Obama could not accomplish much in his first term because he was trying to get the country out of the worst recession in our history. In his second term, as the economy began to improve, what did that leader of the Senate say? "We are not going to cooperate with this president".
You are just like the other lemmings that believe in Trump. Support blindly, and pay no attention to the violations of law, constant lying, and acting like a fifth grader by calling people names. Too bad you can't see the light like other republicans are doing.

I know all about Lemmings, I saw 235 of them the other night at the SOTU address.

If Pelosi had said 'Nancy says, kiss the a-- of the neighbor on your left!' they all would have bent over and puckered.

You sound just like my HS educated cousin, 63 years old and he's still spouting the same old Leftist crap he was 50 years ago. He's even mostly employed the last 2 years, he wasn't very often during the 8 years of Obama.

I try not to confuse him with those factoids, it messes with his herb-mellowed brain waves.

Sonny, I've dealt with more 'facts' and 'reality' than you ever conceived of during your entire whiny existence.

If we could only split this nation down the middle and separate the factions into two, you've held us back long enough.

Dear BroncoPhilly,
Just in case you didn't hear about it, that wonderful tax cut is costing the average taxpayer about 10% less in their refunds compared to last year. You must feel wonderful costing the American taxpayer that 10%. Yeah, we are the ones holding you and your right-wingers back.
You are the ones destroying the middle-class with your helpful tax policies.

I’m a very average taxpayer and the tax cut has put more money in my pocket. The tax plan has tremendously helped small business owners, the people who drive the economy and employ the majority of people. Trump has a lot of flaws but the tax plan was definitely a big win for the middle class and long overdue.

Meanwhile our national debt has just reached record numbers, (22 trillion and rising), under the orange idiot it has gone up 2 trillion plus, and the YEARLY deficit is a big reason these shutdown talks are happening because it used to be a formality to vote a CR in to pay bills incurred as a result of an unbalanced budget. THANKS DONALD!

Guy is a clown show, he and his banana republic style family in the WH, most of his campaign has plead guilty or are being sentenced, you people sound like Kellyanne reciting those claims. Her husband calls her out in real time for she and the orangeidiot’s bs.

Don't open the door on the National Debt talk, or we'll point out how Obama DOUBLED IT in 8 years. Added more debt than all other Presidents combined-with absolutely nothing to show for it.

He not only accomplished almost nothing, he left us with red ink up the wazoo. But Ken Barna 'respects him' so I guess that counts for something.

Dumbo doesn't know when to shut up. Not sure why your tax return is 10% less, mine is substantially larger.

Maybe it's time to chuck H & R Block and pick up 'Turbo Tax Deluxe for Dummies', they walk you through the deductions so not even you can screw it up.

Dear BroncoPhilly,
As usual when you have no good arguments or FACTS to bring to any discussion you revert to name calling and personal attacks. That's alright with me because I have a thick skin, but you have learned it from your idol, Mr. Trump.
Sure, the deficit went up during President Obama because in his first term, especially, we as a country were trying to dig out of the recession. A fact you fail to recognize.
Your problem is that you only listen to or watch Fox news, and their daily lies about what is going on in this country. I know you have denied that, and claim to watch or listen to other sources, but it is obvious that whatever your sources, they are close to Fox.
