I'm telling you, this is the type of thing that's always played a big part in preventing USC sports from ever reaching elite status. There are other factors of course, but paranoid fans of the opposition HAVE played a role......some even in high political positions. Everytime we even APPEAR to be on the threshold of something special, this kind of stuff starts up.

I think Watson's "jealousy" comment hit the nail on the head.
