I see an offer but not a verbal.

Agree. I went over his Tweets and it really appears just to be an offer.

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting
Any one else noticing that DE seems to be a point of emphasis on the recruiting twitter pager. Looks like a handful or so of JUCO DE's they are going after. Perhaps the lack of production this year having something to do with it?

BTW, the story as I see it for 2020 is the number of commits from MI h.s. players.

Getting legitimate Division 1 Michigan recruits is nice. It also helps boost attendance. For instance, the beydoun family had about 20 people at the last game. It was quite obvious who they were when their kid scored a touchdown.

I get it:
Recruit skill position players from MI. high schools and let them score a lot of TDs.
The penultimate would be to recruit Bates for the MBB. That way we might get hundreds of Lincoln students, parents and alums coming to EMU home games.
Pretty simple, huh??? (will not that simple )

Put it this way, Lincoln has already hired a security company to help with home basketball games. People that have no connection to the school will be coming from everywhere to watch the kid play. There are already three or four games scheduled for the convocation center.

C'mon Steve, Nickle makes a great point and I have seen it myself when the ONLY WBB player from Michigan, Micah Robinson drew a similar amount of butts in the seat for home games.
We certainly are not at the level where we can depend on in state recruits for sure and I agree with you on that. Still the game was won on a blocked punt by Matthew Sexton, imported from that far away destination, Clinton, MICHIGAN.
I live in this area and I treasure what Emoni Bates is doing for us. I, like you, do not think EMU is on his radar screen. Enough said.

I'm not sure what I said you disagree.
My comments were partially tongue-in-cheek about having all of the locals score TDs in front of family and friends.
In a dream world, we would have a local QB who was a MI h.s. dream teamer and have dozens of family and friends attend his home games.

two things:
1. penultimate means "second to last". its been bothering me for days.
2. EMU, across all sports but football in particular, need to do a better job at recruiting the state of michigan - washtenaw county in particular. jake donellon was the first recruit from a washtenaw hs in like a decade. thats bad. theres a lot of talent in south eastern michigan that EMU would be well served to do a better job at bringing into the fold.

Sorry about the penultimate. One of the most misused words in the dictionary.
And I think I know why. We all know what the word 'ultimate' means and very few thinks it means 'last.'
Few would say, "He lied on his death bed in a penultimate state, on the next to last day of his life.'
I used the term, incorrectly, to mean 'near ultimate.'

Dan I agree 100%. The real problem with recruiting SE Michigan like we did when Ron Adams from Taylor came here to QB a MAC championship is obvious. EMU like UDM suffers mightily from the decline of the surrounding community and kids from nearby towns realize this, Ypsilanti has a less than stellar reputation locally. Night life? The Suds Factory, Fiddler's Green, Spaghetti Bender and Wooden Nickle are all gone. That is why I am all for the Ann Arbor invasion into Ypsilanti, what is good for Ypsi is good for EMU and vice versa.

dive bar turnover not withstanding i think it also speaks to the negative reputation the athletics program has built for itself over the last couple decades. the best way to fix that is the best way to fix every problem - to win.
