NFL Combine Results, from 2014 to 2018 (5yrs), player played RB, athlete played in the NFL, ordered by 40 Yd Dash ascending

# of Players

3 -- < 4.40
6 -- between 4.40 and 4.49
19 -- between 4.5 and 4.54
18 -- between 4.55 and 4.59

All players have hyped #s while in HS and college. I thought interesting to see how many RB that were invited to the combine actually had sub 4.5 numbers. Kareem Hunt comes in at #79 with a 4.62. Lenoard Fournett at LSU was #34 with a 4.51.

Will be interesting to see how Darrell Henderson and Tony Pollard peform.

Henderson is pretty fast “out of the hole”, but his acceleration from 20-40 yards is as impressive as I’ve ever seen.

ALL NFL and major college RBs run sub 5.0 40yard dash these days I Assume you mean 4.5 40 yard dash.

Many kids are surprised when they get an actual 40 time that is official.

You have so many kids in high school who were clocked (hand held) as sub 4.4 and are nowhere near that.

Probably true, I'm assuming DH is running in combine type conditions though so his 4.3 goal is hopefully attainable (otherwise why would you put it out there).

If he busts out a 4.3 or close to it, I don't see how he wouldn't be in the first round, that's blazing for a RB.

I love the NFL draft combine. I don't personally watch it as much as I go to youtube and catch the highlights. Remember Dontari Poe and his stock rise after running that 40 at the combine? Good stuff.

Hopefully DH nails it at the combine. Same with Pollard.

looks like he came up about 49 meters short

fyi... per pro football reference only 32 players (RBs) have run sub 4.4 since 2000. (these are players that actually got drafted)
