Miami @ Kent State
The Redhawks come to the MAC Center on Tuesday for a 7pm showdown with the Flashes. Miami has righted the ship after a starting MAC play 0-4.

There all big games once the calendar hits February. But backing up a road win at BSU with a home win over Miami is a must as the con-fer-ence race hits the home stretch. Miami is decent. But decent shouldn’t get them a win at Kent. Hopefully, they will not have enough offense to stay with the Golden Flashes.

You have to love the toughness and heart of this team. They win the last 1:30 of just about every game.

At the last time out I couldn't believe Sendy wasn't putting Whittington back in. He's our best shot blocker and defensive rebounder... Then Frederick gets the block to seal the win. In an era where guys bolt if they fall out of the rotation in their first year, I'm really glad he stuck it out. He's become a really important player.

AF really does give some good minutes and makes some key plays it seems every game lately.

Noticed tonight Illinois upset Mich St. and ADL played a few minutes and put a couple of numbers in the box score. He's getting 8 minutes per game and 3 ppg. Very minimal contributions. Too bad for him and us.

Yes - and 3 fouls in 7 minutes. That usually means he's a step low for the level of competition. He's more of a MAC-level guy. I don't know how much his knee is slowing him down, that might have kept him from playing 30 minutes a game at Kent State.

It goes back to the same question that Jaaron Simmons answered last year - would you rather be 1st team All-MAC or a bench player in the Big Ten? With the Big Ten, though, there's a remote possiblilty to get 3 minutes in the NCAA Championship game [though not with Illinois]

1st team all Mac? Whittington has a ton more offense ADR and (believe it or not) stays on the floor longer and I’m thinking he has a SHOT at 2nd team.

Kids prove it every day of the year. They would rather be on the bench at a big time program than start at a MAC school. Football rosters are loaded with those types. It’s human nature when your 17-20 years old. There are exceptions but they are the minority.

We had 2236 allegegly in the house last night. Moved “up” to sixth in the league in attendance.

Reasons I’ve heard for not attending:
- weather
- need to win
- no players to really root for
- bad in-game atmosphere

Last night you had
- 40 degrees
- a 16-5 team
- league leader and NCAA Top 20 scorer Jaylin Walker
- one of the best scoreboards in the league and a dramatically improved sound system

You know what, maybe we’re just a ****** fan base.

RE: Miami @ Kent State
Looking at the potential MAC all-freshmen team, Kent State never gets players on those teams, but Anthony Roberts should at least be in the discussion this year. He's 5th in ppg among MAC freshmen with 4.6. OU's Ben Vander Plas and Jason Preston and Western's William Boyer-Richard look to be solidly in the top 5, Mekhi Lairy might be the 4th on the list. Roberts is probably in the running for the last spot. I'll depend on usage over the last month of the season as to whether he gets in.

The candidates for freshmen of the year aren't as strong as in years past, there's no guys scoring 15ppg this year, so it's a possibility. Kent State hasn't had anyone on the All-Freshmen team since Rod Sherman in 2011

Keep in mind, my fellow (six star fan) that if everyone that contributes regularly on this message board attended last night, the number may have been 2550. But I think most of us who can make it, do attend. So without us your looking at 2522.

Could have been 2237 but I had one of my rare misses due to a Chinese New Year meal. I have to let the wife win once in awhile.

I believe that we had over 5000 at the UB vs KSU game. What is the difference? Is it solely that UB was a ranked team? Maybe. I do know that there was a lot of marketing on campus to get a campus turn out. Maybe that works. It just might be in order to get good attendance, hard work is required. I do not believe that the Miami game was even written up on the front page of the Kent Wired on line.

Yeah, & the drive from Philly is prohibitive, especially this time of year. 03-wink

I guess I’m more disappointed in the students than anything else. I mean I bitched left and right about them losing their seats to the donor lounge and they are making me regret it. Oh well.
