Looking at things realistically the season will have to be thought of as a bad season. Team has to finish the 18 game MAC season on a 5-3 win- loss pace to finish above 500 in the MAC that is not going to happen. Team is basically playing to host a first round MAC tourney game. This team has shown itself incapable of putting together a winning streak. This is a veteran squad which still seems to lack leadership and toughness.

Like it or not, a .500 finish this year in the MAC would be an improvement over prior years, given the strength of the MAC this year. I'm not optimistic enough to even predict they'll end up at .500 at this point.

A 500 MAC season would be a small improvement but when you consider its a veteran team it’s really not an improvement!

I’ll say if Monty can win 5 more MAC games before the tournament or makes it to the semifinals of MAC tourney he stays anything less he’s let go

Agree with both of you dc1 and 007, even if NIU finishes .500'ish, you don't really get the feel that the arrow is pointing up. This team has plenty of vets, after rays of hope (3-0 start, Buffalo game, etc) they should have been able to better sustain. But it doesn't seem to be happening and nothing in the program or Monty's history would show that will change.

But...crazier things have happened, so I'll continue to hope they prove us terribly wrong and make a deep run in the MAC tourney.

Right now I have the Huskies as 1 in 140 odds to win the tourney

Radio postgame Monty said the same about leadership. Monty expects his 2 seniors and German to be the leaders.

I guess it isn't happening. Maybe with 3 choices means u don't have 1.
