"I just don't like the reports that I see coming out having to do with football … I mean, it's a dangerous sport and I think it's really tough," he said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

Democrat Analysis - Dangerous and tough are "dog whistles" to white people that REALLY mean "black people". His statement is racist.

Hey, US men’s 7s team now #1 in the world and women’s 7s now #2 after the Sydney tour stop this weekend. And men’s 15s blew out Chile 71-8 in Santiago yesterday. I can remember when we struggled to beat Chile, particularly down there.

So his son's a soccer player? Doesn't reduce the concussion risk by much.

I’ve heard that soccer has a bad concussion problem, too. But I’ve never understood why it does.

While concussions are always bad it seems that the repeated small hits from football really add up. Ilthe number of head hits in soccer is comparatively low.

women's soccer has a concussion problem. It has to do with neck strength believe it or not. heading is banned until U13 now which I'm fine with because we still don't have great coaches at the youth level.

I'm just ignorant of lacrosse as I didn't grow up with it. But, it is certainly rising in popularity in Florida. I just think Rugby is safer than football and I love the respect that is taught in it.

Mike Friday is the best sevens coach in the world. I had some training videos that he made that I used when I was coaching.

Yea, I played 6+ yrs., left “loose head” prop. looking back, much postgame respect by both clubs, always a really good time. Respect?

The rugby “Queens” that danced on the frat house or pizza joint bars? Errrr, I’d rather that wasn’t my daughter, Or girlfriend, or even casual acquaintance.

Safer? Perhaps.

What I like about the lax is it’s a rather poetic mix between soccer, football, hockey and even rugby.

Problem is, it’s expensive as schit. Another cousin to the hockey.

Yea, well

why does a coach like him stay for this long? I love listening to his halftime talks since they mic them up. My 8 year old daughter loves watching them. Se know the names of Hughes, Baker, ad Isles more than any other athlete other than Serena.

Well, after Kenya fired him basically for being white, he came here because of his relationship with Nigel Melville, who had coached him at London Wasps. I was worried that when Melville left, he would be out as well, but it looks like maybe the people running USARugby have acquired some sense somehow along the way. Then again, just like players who become 7s specialists, I'm not sure how big the market is for a coach who has become something of a 7s specialist.

I have to believe the US improvement in 15s in the last couple of years has derived at least some of its spirit, if nothing else, from the development of the 7s squad. I've always liked 7s, and I would like to see us use it in the development program, the way New Zealand does. I also think John Mitchell, even if he was not as fully dedicated to the Eagles as some would have liked, brought something of the All-Black professionalism to the attitude of the players. I had a good friend who got a few Eagles caps when Mitch was coaching the team, and he thought the world of Mitch.

And obviously, now having a professional league, even at a rather low level, makes a big difference.
