RE: 2020 Football Recruiting Thread
The latest LB verbal had offers from nearly every MAC school, plus Temple. This is a big get for our Rockets!

If the Rockets can't get a commit from the #50 player in Michigan with no P5 offers and within a couple hours radius of UT, it's time to think about making some changes.

Excellent... kids definitely thin at 6’7” and 250 (possibly 240). He’ll be three years away in both growth and steaks before he is physically ready to compete. I’m sure the staff envisioned this scenario when they offered Garrett.

Nice recruit.

Go Rockets!

Reported on twitter by 247 that 2020 S Maxen Hook from New Palestine, IN has verballed to UT. Nothing on his twitter though, and he just visited Miami on Wed, interestingly.

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting Thread
Very good pickup for UT. Young man plays for Indiana state 5A champs New Palestine. He is 1st team all state and is a ball hound!!! Incredibly hard hitter and flies to the ball. He also has good ball skills as he is also a WR. He could easily play Star, safety or Will. At 6’2” and 185 he can logically grow to 210 - 215 in a couple years and be a terror.

Stars are fine. We like to see them on our recruits. He is a ** at 247 and a *** at ESPN . ESPN is far more stingy with allocating stars than 247.

Smart kid with numerous MAC and Ivy offers but he chose UT.

Great pickup for UT!!!!

Go Rockets!!!!

Rather go by the Coaches' judgement than star rating.

We don't get a vote in either but stars have more hanging around the cooler bragging rights so I'm okay bragging stars when the player's got them. I like that it's another fairly local kid, sniped from a Lafayette, Bloomington and Muncie recruiting area.

Their Coach is a Cinci St X, N Carolina grad. Lot of upside in that program. Near the smallest school in the division. Two large school championships now I think with nary a high star player. Producing some QBs I read in one article. Their kids will come in knowing the game. Odd little town, looks to be a planned community, a lot of recent growth. Median age young and doubled in population between 2000 and 2010 so I'm guessing either a company or a church built town with a lot of kids. Good one to have knowing the UT program.

Nice input East

Their running back Charlie Spigel may go over 10000 yards next season and also set national record for TD’s but he has zero offers as he is 5’10” 225 but is thought to be too slow afoot. Interesting situation for sure. I hope he reels in a couple offers. Kids a juking bowling ball and he does rip long runs.

Go Rockets!!!

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting Thread
At that size, College coaches might presume Spiegel as physically developed as he's going to be? His HC was a linemen so you can expect the kid is getting good holes and is well trained to find and hit them. His yardage may be going into the team effort. However, if he's pulling away, I'd hope we give him a look. For no reason other than we could use someone in backfield to blow open some holes.

This place sounds a lot like Saline, MI, where former Whitmer coach Palka is now. New Pal is a good step from Indy, not an end of a chain of burbs. Local kids (though Saline is now drawing from Ann Arbor). I could see an Indy parent of a high potential wanting their kid in his program but unless there's either a job waiting or they're willing to commute back to Indy, that program might never produce the top measurables at the skill positions. But they will be skilled and knowlegible. They do however have a couple coaches came in from Lawrence Central, an Indy powerhouse so maybe they'll draw?

Head Coach sounds like potential college coaching material, developing kids into a high average with no obvious weaknesses to exploit and beating the urban privates with their "stars." But I think I also read, his wife is from that town. so...

Looks like an OL committed today as well. However he may count towards the 2019 class.
