Nice to see other players step up when Gabby and May and Voigt (at least for the first half) weren't scoring. Team plays well together. Starks has a heckuva pullup jumper/teardrop. Get another consistent double-figure scorer and the Huskies could have a solid MAC tournament.

RE: WBB Weekly Thread 2/3/2019
One good thing this week:
WBB 49-40 at the half at Ball St. If they can keep it going, it will be three straight W's for Northern heading into a 2/13 matchup @ Miami-Ohio.

(My apologies. Had EMU on the brain after the MBB game. I admit to one count of dork-ism.)

NIU 72-63 heading into the 4th.

Thanks for the updates and the good news, pvk.

SO MUCH BETTER than the news and story on the men’s side.

These ladies are much, much more fun and more likeable.

RE: WBB Weekly Thread 2/3/2019
Really amazing performance by the team and Mikayla Voigt. In her 37 points, she hit 10 of 18 shots including 8 of 12 3-ptrs. and 9 of 10 freethrows (according to the posted stat sheet). Northern also got 40 rebounds compared to BallSt's 27. Also, BSU had 5 players score in double figures. (NIU had two, with Myia Starks' 19). Starks hit 9 of 20 but also had 7 assists. Both teams had 14 turnovers, so the rebounds and Voigt's shooting made a huge difference.

Also, official attendance was 1,333. That's pretty good.

Good work pvk. Good updates. Women’s hoops deserves much more respect and attention. The men’s program is a complete joke. Carlsen and her crew get bit by injury bug and continue to improve. That’s leadership!

I have season tickets for football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. If I had to maintain tickets for only one sport, it would be women’s basketball, my favorite sport at NIU. There is nothing better, IMO. The ladies play so hard and intensely that you worry about them banging themselves up. I am NEVER disappointed that they did not play hard because that does not happen. The players genuinely like and support each other, and it shows. The fact that they are playing so well after losing one of the best players in the MAC is a testament to their tenacity and will. It is a pleasure and honor to watch the women play the game and conduct themselves.
