I agree. Kalu seemed to be just a bit less than his normal self which is to be expected coming back so soon from an ankle injury. I think Kalu would have played more minutes if that wasn't the case.

Agree. But Zip wasn't bad in the short time he was out there. It didnt make the box score, but he played good D, altering a few shots. Hopefully the week off will help him heal up. We're going to need him in Pod play.

I dont know, Coach. Zip looked pretty fierce boarding up under the glass.

As the announcers stated, he's got some pretty high shorts. It's like Indiana University in the 80s. Is this the new thing?

Yes. Several teams have guys that want to turn back the clock. Smh. Somewhere, John Stockton is beaming with pride.

Wearing clothes that fit are a welcome change from the baggy era, imo.

I noticed this earlier in the season. It looks to me like almost all players have moved away from the "mid calf look"

No, Kalu didn't play poorly during his time on the court last game. Hopefully he will be closer to 100% by Saturday.

I didn't mean to say he played poorly, just that he didn't quite look his usual self (and that's expected.)

This week off is huge. Everyone else is battling for position and getting into the top pod against good teams and we are healing up and finish with Charlotte at home. This worked out well for us.

Yes, and if USM can take care of UTSA at home on Thur. we, and more importantly, the team, can show up at the Ted on Sat. totally focused on beating Charlotte and securing the #1 pod slot.

Keep in mind we traded this week off for 3 games in one week (not that we wanted it to be that way). So I would disagree this is better, but it doesn't matter. We are USM fans on Thursday!

RE: Kalu injury
Looked like an ankle, he had his shoe off when he came back out of the tunnel.

RE: Kalu injury
I just rewatched his injury and he rolled out his left ankle. I'm sure it's sprained. Does anyone remember if it was his L or R ankle which was injured before? Maybe he should be conservative in his return and be fresh for the tournament. We need Dickens and Robinson to maintain their health. This is where it gets dicey.

It was his ankle again. He went down the tunnel and had it rewrapped. He came back but couldn’t go. JJ tried to put him in and he shook his head no.
He was icing it post game but it wasn’t wrapped and no crutches or boot.

I noticed that as well. Bassey was killing us in the second half and Jones pointed for Kalu to go in, and he shook his head “no.” And then he opted for Robinson. It was surprising to watch.

Jones told him to go in, Kalu started to stand up and go to the table, and then Jones said "If you can't go, don't go". Then it was something to the extent of "a lot of important games left". That's about all I got from it.

If that is what happened then the best possible outcome for us happened. Still got the win and he didnt put any more stress on the ankle. No doubt we will need him down the stretch.
