And THIS is why we need to be especially vocal about our dissatisfaction with the program. It may seem obvious, but there are a lot of people out there with zero sense of what a quality program looks like.

I'm still of the opinion that Weatherbe should pull the trigger now. If nothing else it'll at least make the rest of the season interesting. Might even put some life in a team that seems to be suffocating.

I agree, but I think there’s zero chance that it happens. No way we pay a guy a year and a half of salary to not be our coach. We will be lucky if he even gets fired this coming offseason.

I don't see a Ben Braun on the staff.

Wooten is there as a recruiting coach.

Cline is still pretty young and a do it all type.

Kevin has experience but I'm not sure a HC candidate (even though he was an acting HC at UDM years ago). He would be acting if something happened with Murphy.

We don't have a Dave Pilipovich on the staff who would be capable of being a HC. Andy Moore is also at Air Force Academy with Pilipovich.

You know the guys who make it on time for workouts and meetings and actually give a damn and dont phone it in when they are on the court.

Can Murphy make Mondo acting coach and start the search now.

RE: Game Day: Miami
Hate to say I told you so, but...Just curious, how does James Thompson leave EMU as half the player he was compared to when he came in as a freshman? Aren't players supposed to get better each year? Remember when we were worried that he was going to leave early for the NBA or transfer to a P5 powerhouse? How bad of a coach do you have to be to completely destroy that kid's future earning potential? What a disgrace! What player with ANY aspirations of playing at the next level, be it as an NBA long shot or having a lucrative career overseas, would ever consider EMU with Murphy as their coach??

The problem dates back to 2011 when Rob Murphy half-heartedly threw his hat in the ring to become the next coach at EMU at the 11th hour. He inexplicably was moved to the front of the line and GIVEN the job when he could have taken it or left it. We have been sitting through 8 years of uninspired, ugly, poorly coached basketball ever since. Enough already.

Agree. Hopefully Thompson and Minnie can transfer to a better program as Grad students, and build their NBA stock back up.

Both are out of eligibility. This is it.

There is no way this team should be 3-6 in the MAC. If Murphy can’t compete with this team, he never will. If this continues, Murphy should be replaced. Even if it turns around like last year, Murphy still should be dismissed as coaches should not let this happen repeatedly.
So did Murphy also ruin future careers of Terry Harris, Baylee Steele, Nick Madray? They all seemed to start out doing pretty good, then Steele and Madray left. Did they see that they would have nothing to show for their efforts? We see that Harris fell apart under Murphy. I realize there are endless reasons for transfers, etc. , some they just aren't ready for D1. I believe Murphy has been given enough years, and athletes are unfairly paying the price for his incompetence.

I saw that Terry Harris has started every game and averaging nearly 10 points per game at NC & T. His transfer seems to be working out well for him. It amazed me last year that he went from starter to deep on the bench. This year Parris was starting early in the season and now barely plays.

My mother used to say for every Jack there is a Jill.

What she meant is no matter whom the person is there is a match for him or her out there.

Same with universities and collegiate athletics.

Terry Harris seemed 'over his head' at EMU and quickly lost confidence. He moved down from a very solid MAC conference to a weak MEAC where he was more likely to have success.

We might remember that he transferred from Houston Baptist where he did not star and moved to a significantly higher level of competition at EMU.

The Parris situation is unfortunate as he has MAC level skills. I assume most of it is because he is stuck behind Jackson and Jackson gets almost all the minutes.
