It was overcooked, dried and grisly tough. Maybe I just caught them on a bad night but with Rendezvous and Central just a couple of blocks away, not sure I want to try Lawlers again.

I didn’t like it much either. Haven’t been to his place on Cordova but everyone I know who has, says it sucks.

I have family who lives in Concord, NC (Charlotte suburb)

Went there a few years ago and they took us to their favorite BBQ joint. They said this is the best BBQ you will ever eat.

LOL

The (chopped) pork sandwich was like mush with vinegar on it. Disgusting.

I agree with the Tops sauce, it’s more palatable with something else.

Those North Carolinians think they know sh!t. But they don’t.

NC sucks

But I had some of the best BBQ ever in Kansas City. As much as I hate to admit it, this place is on par with some of the best in Memphis.

https://www.jackstackbbq.com/

But I had Oklahoma Joe's in KC, which is supposed to be their world class best but it was just ok....equivalent to average in Memphis.

It's Joe's Kansas City now as of a few years ago. Their brisket Z Man is amazing.

The only thing better about KC BBQ than Memphis is the burnt ends and Joe's has great burnt ends.

If it's pork, there are tons of places in Memphis better than Joe's.

I didn't like Lawlers in Cordova...I'd much rather go to the Cordova Corky's (of the Corky's, I like the Cordova location)

In Memphis I like the ribs at Blues City and Central BBQ in 38104 for everything else.

i thought we taught you better than that.

I'm not anymore :-) I swore I'd never work for Wally World but when they offered me 18+ an hour to work in their Pharmacy I couldn't say 'no'

In Memphis, that's good money.

Congrats.

I'll let the left drunks know of your prosperity in May, unless you gonna show up.

Went to UCF game compliments of Horseshoe Casino and the food was chopped BBQ and hot dogs. The BBQ was chopped so fine I thought it was sloppy joes until I saw the sign. Hot dogs along with 7 beers saved the day.

it is especially irritating when they already have Rendezvous in the building.

I think the worst bbq in town is George's in Collierville. not as bas as FedEx Forum boxes but not good at all and very "soft" it was stopped out with an ice cream scoop and kept its form.

ON a side note, the BBQ egg rolls were excellent there.

GP tells us that George's is the only one who only serves fresh pork every day. Never frozen, and thrown out at the end of the day.

But, yeah, George's ain't that good. Sides are great however.

Just heard George actually sold and the new owner is from Lousyville of all places.

It seems to depend on who is cooking them. They seem to start the new guys there for some reason. They don't season them well enough.

She brings me 10 more and a bill for $12.50. I tell her it should be $10. She says that they are 75 cents to go, I ask where does it say that and if that is true I don't want them to go, just put them on a plate and give me a to go box. She talks to the manager and begrudgingly changes the order. Haven't been back since.

About eighteen months, actually.

Has it been since then? Because the last one I had was about the same quality as any before.

Well, I'm sorry you didn't like Fat Larry's. That just leaves more room for the rest of us there. Liz and Amanda are the two main servers, and they treat me great. I tell them that I come for the comfort food. I have eaten their BBQ, but their home-cooked meats and veggies are the best I've had.

Their chicken and dumplings will make you slap your grandma.

And, I'll bet that when they went and talked to the "manager" it was Larry himself. Nice guy as well.

Worst BBQ in Memphis
My father-in-law eats there probably 5 times a week so he makes up for my absence. Never really liked their food that much either.

Tastee BBQ on brooks is like that, when I worked out that way I would go there for the home cooking vs the BBQ.

RE: Worst BBQ in Memphis
been awhile since I have had any Memphis bar-b-que...I'd even settle for Tops.
As I live in Kentucky...these moonshine morons know NOTHING about real bar-b-que.
A lot of these folks want to "make their own sauce", and its like a combination of sweet and sour sauce, brown sugar, and vinegar.
Not really palatable.

I went about a year ago. First time in years I had been, and looking forward to a couple of burgers. They just weren't the same I remembered. Tasted like frozen Sysco from a school cafeteria.

No place, and I mean none, has drier BBQ than Brad's BBQ out in Bartlett. Blech.

You gotta douse the sauce on it. Their onion rings are good. I used to ride my bike to the old Brads on Waring as a kid
