The U.S. labor market remains strong and will help buoy consumer health and output growth this year,” Lynch said.

Well, sounds to me like there's no reason we need to keep spending so much money on welfare......

Take that money, BUILD THE WALL.

Its hard to have a recession when you have a labor shortage going on.

But, just like in 2006, if the democrats start taking back control of congress, it will happen. And then if a complete dumb*** gets elected president, it will last much longer, and the recovery will suck much more, than it had to be.

Learn to think for yourself, and you would have not posted that.

Here's a hint, if people gave up looking for work, the labor particpation rate would have gone DOWN. It went up.

It means that the labor market is so good, that people are starting to look for work again, not giving up like they did under Obama.

And, this was not surprising. This very forum predicted this would occur. You just need to learn who to trust when you read the forum.

U.S. employers added 304,000 jobs Opens a New Window. in January, soaring past Wall Street’s expectations for an increase of 165,000 jobs, seemingly brushing off a 35-day government shutdown as investors braced for mixed results. lulz

The unemployment rate climbed to 4 percent from 3.9 percent, while the labor force participation rate rose slightly to 63.2 percent. Average hourly earnings, meanwhile, rose by 3 cents to $27.56. Over the year, average hourly earnings have increased by a total of 85 cents, or about 3.2 percent.

LOL! Talking points. Trying to distract from the fact that the economy is growing in a way it hasn't in decades, NATO is stronger, we are getting out of intractable conflicts, making progress in others and the world is a safer place than it was 2 years ago.

Not what that means at all. It means more people are looking for jobs that had previously given up looking, thereby re-entering the potential workforce and being calculated as 'unemployed'.

You're repeating things that we said when Obama was president that APPLIED to Obama that dont apply to Trump. Thats why you look like an idiot. Well, that, and the fact you dont understand how the labor participation rate works. I dont think Obama did either.

By applying that comment the way you have, you've merely demonstrated that you don't understand the numbers.

If you've given up looking for work, you aren't counted as unemployed.... so the measurement is not even remotely applicable to the comment you made. It's like saying the unemployment rate went up, that means water is wet.

Participation rate rises or falls as people leave the workforce/start or stop looking for work... which is precisely counter to your comment, again, proving the fallacy of your claim

The biggest thing is the rise in hourly earnings as it is a sign that companies are having to pay up to retain employees and/or employees have some bargaining power.

The unemployment rate, while certainly meaningful... is actually somewhat less meaningful than the others in this context. Many economists have argued for decades that there is 'some' level of natural unemployment.
The three items work together.... and 2 of them are showing strength. This is directly in conflict with what happened under Obama where the ONLY indicator showing strength was the unemployment rate. the participation rate dropped a TON (long after the election/recession) and wages were stagnant.

Took the Vietnam war and 100 million less people to have the same low level of jobless claims as now.

I'm seeing it all around. Retail is starting to get some incompetent help. These people would have been fired quickly before.

They really should explain that first headline. Or at least man up and say they were wrong. Because they were about as wrong as you could get. It was SwagSurfer-level wrong.
