Several gaps to worry about,Baseline, splits on the wings and gap middle at free throw line extended. Dribble drive and kick can definitely be an issue against a 2-3

RE: ZONE PRESS ZONE PRESS ZONE PRESS
Just rewatched the UNCW/Towson game.

13:45 second half. Towson up 48-59 UNCW goes to a zone

Towson TO - rushed shot at the end of the shot clock, then step out of bounds

51-59 Fornes 3 pointer

Towson missed deep 3

53-59 Fornes 2 FT's

53-61 Towson jumper

56 - 61 Sims 3pt

56 - 63 Towson deep 2 pt

59- 63- Toews 3pt

Towson missed 3

Fornes missed layup

Towson TO

61-63 Fornes jumper

9:18 UNCW abandons zone.

YOU KNOW the rest.

In 4:27 of zone, we outscored Towson 13-4. We managed to tie the game playing man, but didn't go on another run. Final score was 76-77, which means in final 9:18 we outcored them 15-14. Couldn't be a more stark contrast. TWICE as much time, we score only two more points but give up 10 more points. Frickin A.

In the Drexel game we played zone for FOUR MINUTES and were +10.

Zone for 8:27 against Drexel/Towson combined, UNCW +19. I find it stunning that in both games we went on huge runs playing zone, but still stopped after about 4 minutes.

There is NO WAY the coaching staff does not know exactly the timeline you just laid out. That makes it worse. Malpractice.

It's pretty sad, i stopped listening at about 6 minutes but it was clear to me the zone WAS working. I just don't understand why he continues to go to something and it works, and he just stops. That's just foolish in just about every aspect of life not just coaching!

RE: ZONE PRESS ZONE PRESS ZONE PRESS
We just gave up the most points ALL SEASON to a team than averages under 70 ppg.

Any chance if we give up 140 points to Hofstra we'll finally give up playing man to man?

Only twice in the KenPom era (since ‘02) that JMU had scored 100 or more in a regulation game.

First time since 1995 (when Lefty was the coach at JMU) that they’ve scored 100 in any conference game.

We will continue to mix it up. And by mix it up, throw in some zone and press for a couple of possessions to throw them off balance and then go straight back to man to man. They are just going to make some tough shots in the end.

If I’m an offensive player on another team and I see UNCW on the schedule my eyes get really big

You don't have to be an offensive player to score against UNCW. You just have to be a player who steps on the court. We should have a solid lock on last place in the country in defense after tonight.
