Times were different 30, even 20 years ago. Almost all of the conference tournaments were played on conference member home floors. Hell, even a couple major conferences didn't even have conference tournaments until the early 2000's.
It's not universally accepted to play your conference tourney at a neutral venue if you want to be taken seriously. I mean will the SEC put a tournament in Rupp?
You've never been close to being in a conference that could even play a CCG in Rupp arena. I wish the American had have gone bigtime and went for Gonzaga.

Sore and salty. I love that combo.

City of Memphis BIDS on the conf tournament (not the Univ of Memphis), just like they did back in CUSA.
When those championship games were on CBS...played in front of huge crowds at Fed Ex Forum...no one was "butt hurt" like you are and said "they are a midmajor playing on their home court just to get fans" and how this year's tournament is "not a good look for a conf".
That again is a you problem.
Yeah, I understand the homecourt bias argument but not the "it's mid-major" slur by the Wichita fans. Guess they got used to the high-major MVC always playing in St. Louis, lol.
Like you, I never heard anyone complain about that until Wichita started griping.
Because 95% of low and mid major conference tournaments are held on home floors of conference teams. As opposed to 0.0% of major conference tournaments.
It's really not a difficult concept. Which side do you want to set yourself to?
And yes it is quite sad that the inferior Valley has had a better conference tournament setup than the "P6" American.
I get it. You mid-majors feel like you're bigtime because you ran a mid-major conference full of mid-major nobodies and you all felt that your mid-major mindset mattered. WHO CARES.

Not salty. I just realize the mistake that the AAC made,,, really nothing more or nothing less. I don't think we'll be in a conference with you mid-majors long anyway. Either the AAC will get paid right or some of us will move up, or we'll realign into something survivable,,, but I don't think any of those options will include yall outside of the good contract.

If you can’t have fun in Memphis, then that is a “you” problem.

Same comment applies for Wichita. It's a "you" problem if you can't have fun and find alot to do. There is plenty of activities here. Most of the posts I see about us is people who make comments from there perception of Wichita and not actually been here. When we hosted the NCAA last year they were blown away. All the fans from other schools that were interviewed by the media were surprised at what they forms here. That's why we are hosting both the women's and men's NCAA again. Also we are one of the sites hosting this summer the TBT tournament. Ticket sales here , last I like looked at out way ahead of any other city.

I’ve been to Wichita and it’s a nice little city. Memphis is a unique city.....definitely not cookie cutter.

Yeah but do they have an Olive Garden?

Times were different indeed. ACC and SEC used to play in Georgia Dome a lot. The SEC had it at the Superdome a time or two. That doesn't seem likely for even those two conferences in this day and age, Whether at the new stadium in Atlanta or the Superdome in New Orleans. They don't travel like they used to. There are more options for entertainment these days, and quite frankly, salaries don't keep up with inflation. These are all reasons why the landscape has been altered. But the same conferences that had neutral site tournaments then, do now too. That hasn't changed much.
For the sake of reason, does it matter that the Sun Belt and SoCon hold neutral site tournaments? Does that make them major leagues? I don't think so, but that's one man's opinion.
I think the rebuttal from many fans here is that Wichita is in their 2nd season in a fairly major conference, and seem to be making many demands. Don't make me use the fat girl at the dance reference.
I personally love the association with Wichita State, whether or not they add football again, one day. Just don't understand all the complaints, given your prior conference affiliation.
Tournaments held at neutral sites for at least the last 20, if not 30 years.
ACC
Big East
Big 10
Big 12/8/SWC
Pac 10/12
SEC
Mountain West?
Atlantic 10?
