Trey Gowdy joins Fox News as a contributor
https://thehill.com/homenews/media/42767...ontributor

Quote:Former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) has joined Fox News as a contributor, the network announced Wednesday.

Gowdy, who retired from Congress earlier this month, will offer political and legal analysis on Fox News and the Fox Business Network, the outlet said in a press release.

The former four-term congressman representing South Carolina's 4th Congressional District served as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee during his final two years in office.

A former federal prosecutor, Gowdy was perhaps best known for his work as chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, where he grilled former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other Obama administration officials over their roles and knowledge of the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in the eastern Libyan city.

Gowdy is the latest recently departed member of Congress to join a major network as a contributor. Former Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) has signed with CBS, former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) signed on with MSNBC and former Reps. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.) and Mia Love (R-Utah) have appeared on CNN.

At first, I was a fan of Trey Gowdy.

He eventually seemed to evolve into nothing more than an attention grabbing, grandstander more interested in his own popularity than actually doing the country any good.

The devolution was a sad thing to watch.

He--and his family--hated DC. He could not wait to get back home. What will be interesting is how much contributing he does from a studio in South Carolina versus how often he is actually in NY or DC.

I generally like him, but I always thought he was too polite and did not go for the jugular enough. Compare and contrast the way requestioned witnesses with the way Kamala Harris goes about it.

I guess I see it differently. I wish politics would get back to reasoned discourse based on strong principles and respect. That's what I feel Gowdy did. He was certainly tough when required, given his role, and was not afraid to make the point.

We need a mind like his in the trenches, not on Fox doing the Ben Shapiro shtick -- "Really, libs? Really? You're really going to just murder babies outside of the womb?"

Yeah, they sure are. And you're just going to talk about how loony it is. That type of "commentary" does no good.

I'd like to see it get back there too. I've been critical of both sides in this regard, blasting both the right's hatred of all things Clinton and the left's hatred of all things Trump.

But it's not back there, and not currently headed in that direction. In that case, I expect the people that I count on to protect me from the socialist/communist left to fight at least as hard as the socialists/communists are fighting to screw me.
