Troy will sign its best class ever. Probably Louisiana too.

Could get even better. There is another 3-star WR that isn't committed yet, but has Troy at the top of his list. Wouldn't surprise me if Chip Lindsey brings in one surprise recruit too.

This place s where I think a younger coach wins over what could be a better coach, but older. I still believe Campbell is a good coach, but he’s older then some of his peers, especially in this state when it comes to G5 schools.

We need to add a big time recruiter to our staff.

We will end up somewhere in the 80s. Not bad, considering we didnt have a great season.

TXST will sign it's worst FBS class ever.

We lost our best recruiter. Hell, we lost everyone. All we kept was the HC. I have no idea what to expect from us at this point. But we suck at basketball so there's that.

I was expecting Coach Steve Campbell to have made a few changes in the staff for the coming season, but doesn't seem to be any sign of that happening at this late date. I do feel that he and the coaches still here are signing some good talent and will add to what they're bringing in. I am pretty well pleased with recruiting thus far.

I was worried about that when Campbell came. Even for an FCS coach, he didn't recruit that well at UCA. Being in Mobile, USA should have an easy time recruiting.

We still have a fairly young team. Most are returning. This recruiting cycle is mostly about filling some holes on the O and D lines for GS.

not only best classes for each of those schools, but also best 2 classes in the entire conference history for per average recruit and possible highest national rankings.
these 2 classes are impressive on paper.

Can you provide a secondary list with number of scholarships to fill and average recruit rating? App has its highest average ever suggesting that while quantity is small, the quality is better. It will be interesting to see the fit and if that .3 difference on 247 makes a difference on the field.

I mean.. I would love that. Let's at least watch the guy play in a game before we start saying "Faster than Breida".

oh, yes. this years App St. class would be 3rd in this class AND 3rd in conference history for per average recruit.

Louisiana 24 Commits 82.38
Troy 20 Commits 82.37
Appalachian State 15 Commits 81.56

the percentage points difference is not as important as the upgrade to overall quality of 3 programs all in the same year. thats big for the conference.

Future is looking bright for Southern. We were able to target the OL and DL we wanted and signed them in the early signing period. Southern added Georgia Tech recruiting coordinator Lamar Owens as WR coach. Owens is from Savannah, GA. The entire GT staff was not retained with the new HC in place. His emphasis in recruiting has been the Savannah low country area and North Florida. He will fit in perfectly at Southern!!!

We were in 2-3 before EW left and now dead last. Least interesting NSD since EW was hired.

Are services just ranking players higher each year? Maybe there are legitimately more three stars players than in the past.

Good question. In reality there should be a limit of how many

5 star (100 players)
4 star (500 players)
3 star (2,500 players)
2 star (4,000 players)

Something in the line with this possibly

RE: Where SBC teams are currently ranked in 247Sports recruiting rankings
I believe a recruit's star rating is based on how many FBS offers he received cumulatively. So in a sense, yes. Increase in FBS schools = increase in 3 star rated players

5*= headed to national championship teams
4*= strong demand from P5
3*= strong demand from G5
2*= few or no offers from G5, will likely play at the FCS level
