But it’s not fun to look at any positives about this team or coaching staff. I had a strong suspicion MTSU was going to snipe us here.

We definitely missed Butler inside this game.

It was unreal the number of layups we missed. There were also some ill advised shots taken early in the possession. Lastly the two step back 3’s with the shot clock about to expire wete killers.

Spot on. 3rd game of a back-to-back-to-back road trip. Tired legs, and tired minds do not make for effective basketball players. We really missed Will Butler. Gueye was running on fumes most of the second half and got exposed defensively because of it. Pearson just got destroyed when we tried to sneak him some minutes to rest him.
I guess this insight doesn't bode well for UAB winning the CUSA tournament out in Denton then.

RE: Middle Tennessee
The team didn't play well, and we were in the game until the end, that's improvement. Some here agreed this is a still very young team, most didn't know their teammates names are style of play prior to getting here. As time goes on the players are starting to find their team mates sweet spots..and the coaches are starting to learn the teams limitation. I still believe the 6'6 point guard (Huratdo) (s) should be getting some small forward minutes on the floor.
Lets hope we can develop some help with the minutes, stay health, because we will have to win back to back games to reach our goals...but this team is getting better something some here doubted, and Eshan is coaching better, but the legs don't lie, when they go they need rest..

Scootie had a good game. Not too many others did.
Lots of bad shot selections and we never could figure out how to play against their trap.

I'm surprised we have not seen Wil Bathurst off the bench. Is he an option at the 2 guard position off the bench? He stats in his junior season at Cornell were decent.

We're going to miss him for the rest of the season. We really don't have anyone that can replace his role on the team.

Hopefully Ehsan will address the bench issue in the offseason. We can't afford to have 3-4 guys on scholarship that never play.

RE: Middle Tennessee
The good news is Zach Bryant may be turning a very positive corner in his career. If his game can continue to mature, he may be POY in this league before he graduates. Needs to work on all phases of his shooting, including FT's (67%).
The bad news is outside Zach, this team is so limited offensively. We have to play very disciplined basketball to be productive. When we rush or force shots, we struggle.
Butler was a big loss but he's only one player and a non-starter as well. As pointed out, the problem is there is nobody on the bench that can or will step up. Our highest rated recruit was a post but he wasn't even ready for garbage minutes. Pearson has some talent but he could also use a RS. After losing Cokley and Lee, as well as Smallwood, our roster needed at least two ready-to-play posts.
Don't understand PSG only getting 8 minutes and one shot attempt. Particularly with Bell and Perry struggling. He had played well in our two previous road wins, supplying some desperately needed perimeter scoring.
I ask, I plead, please stop shooting 3's Gueye. They're just wasted possessions. So far he's 1-17 in CUSA play.
