MT (311) is 5-16 and 2-6. They are the worst rated team in C-USA. However, they played the 3rd most difficult OOC schedule in the country, as only Alabama State and Texas Southern played tougher OOC schedules.

Best wins: UTSA (155) 89-86 home, and Charleston Southern (216) 76-73 home.

Worst losses: Rice (244) 79-68 road, and FIU (202) 83-76 home.

Last game: Lost to North Texas (131) 70-53 on the road.

Home record: 5-4

KenPom has UAB (145) favored on the road 69-63.

MT played seven top 100 teams out of conference. All were double digit losses.

Belmont (69), Virginia (1), Butler (49), Lipscomb (36), Murray St. (46), Toledo (61), and Ole Miss (41).

Tough to win 3 road games in a row, we will need to bring our A game.

RE: Middle Tennessee
In conference games only, MT is 12th in offense efficiency. They do go to the foul line 2nd most in conference, where they shoot 65.6% (10th). They play the 4th most up-tempo offense.

MT is also 12th in defense efficiency. They are last (14th) in block shots percentage.

In all games, they haven’t shot well and they turn the ball over a lot. Shooting wise, MT is not even in the top 300 in 3-pt %, 2-pt %, and FT %. They also are not in the top 300 in protecting the ball from steals. This could be a reflection of their strength of OOC schedule. But in C-USA games only, they are still in the lower half in shooting percentages and protecting the ball.

RE: Middle Tennessee
I only have time to mention one player for MT. Their biggest threat appears to be Antonio Green 6-2 190 Jr. He didn’t score many points in their two recent road losses, but he did score 21 points in their home win over UTEP and 21 points in their home win over UTSA.

Remember, their last two home games were victories.

Yep. Part of the side partner deal.
Each team plays their side partner twice.
I believe CUSA decided to stick side partner duels into the same week a few days apart.

RE: Middle Tennessee
Anybody know why it's a Wednesday game? Does the home team decide?

Just curious...

All of the mirror teams appear to be playing each other back to back on a Wednesday Saturday schedule. I assume it is to give an extra travel day between games.

Edit: well not all the mirror teams, but last week FIU-FAU was on Wednesday

I would guess it would be to have another day between the two games to make our overly priced commissioner not feel quite as bad about the setup.

Good lord. Guess I'm the idiot then. I only have the home games on my calendar. Why on earth would the do the scheduling that way? On second thought, maybe the conference are the idiots...

RE: Middle Tennessee
Where it really gets interesting is if you and your travelling team both are in the same pod after the first part of the conference season.

You play them a 3rd time in pod play and possibly a 4th time in conference tournament play.

I'd have to care to look up the travelling duos to see, but I guess it may be possible with teams like ODU, Marshall, & maybe WKU this year.

RE: Middle Tennessee
Theoretically two teams could play. Each other five times in a season
Mirror teams - two times
Pods 1 time
Conference tournament 1 time
Post season tournament 1 time

I guess if they played in one of the Mickey Mouse tournaments where the championship is a best of three, they could play each other as much as seven times

RE: Middle Tennessee
As much as I dislike this system, if they stick with it, a fifteenth team makes sense. Do away with the mirror teams and play everyone once for 14 games. Then each pod has 5 teams where everyone plays everyone once four additional games

Playing badly versus a bad team

17-23 MTSU with 5:27 minutes left in 1st

17% from 3, 40% from the FT line. Losing in turnovers
